Abstract
Keterampilan berpikir kritis belum sepenuhnya dikuasai oleh siswa SMA di Indonesia, salah satunya disebabkan oleh kurangnya latihan yang memerlukan penalaran mendalam. Salah satu upaya untuk mengembangkan keterampilan ini melalui experiential learning bermuatan SDGs life on land, yang dimulai dari observasi piramida jumlah pada lingkup ekosistem lokal seperti sawah, kebun, dan rerumputan hingga analisis dampak keberlanjutan pada lingkup ekosistem global. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa SMA melalui experiential learning bermuatan SDGs life on land pada materi ekosistem. Penelitian menggunakan metode kuasi-eksperimen dengan desain non equivalent pretest-posttest control group. Sampel penelitian ini terdiri keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa SMA kelas X sebanyak satu kelas untuk kelompok eksperimen dan satu kelas untuk kelompok kontrol. Pengambilan data menggunakan lembar observasi keterlaksanaan experiential learning bermuatan SDGs life on land pada materi ekosistem, soal uraian dan angket sebagai pre-test dan post-test keterampilan berpikir kritis, dan angket respons siswa terhadap penerapan pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terjadi peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis yang lebih besar pada kelompok eksperimen dengan skor N-Gain sedang dan kontrol dengan skor N-Gain rendah. Indikator analisis argumen tentang produktivitas jagung dan mendeteksi argumen tentang perkebunan kelapa sawit menjadi indikator dengan peningkatan terbesar. Selain itu, keterlaksanaan pembelajaran dinilai sangat baik dan respons siswa terhadap pembelajaran juga baik. Dengan demikian, experiential learning bermuatan SDGs life on land pada materi ekosistem berpengaruh terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa SMA. Sebaiknya angket regulasi diri yang digunakan juga diujikan secara empiris, agar terbukti reliabilitas dan sensitivitasnya dalam mendeteksi perubahan kemampuan siswa. Critical thinking skills among high school students in Indonesia remain underdeveloped, partly due to limited practice in deep reasoning. This study aims to improve these skills through experiential learning incorporating Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 15 life on land in ecosystem topics. The learning process began with observing the pyramid of numbers in local ecosystems, such as rice fields, gardens, and grasslands, followed by analyzing the impacts of sustainability issues on global ecosystems. A quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent pretest–posttest control group was employed, involving two grade X classes as experimental and control groups. Data were collected using an observation sheet to assess learning implementation, essay questions and questionnaires as pre-tests and post-tests of critical thinking skills, and a student response questionnaire to learning implementations. Results showed improvements in critical thinking skills in both groups, with the experimental group achieving a moderate N-Gain and the control group a low N-Gain. The highest improvement in the experimental group was in argument analysis on corn productivity and detecting arguments about oil palm plantations. Learning implementation in the experimental group was rated excellent, and student responses were positive. These findings suggest that experiential learning incorporating SDG 15 life on land effectively supports the development of critical thinking skills in high school students. Future research should empirically validate the self-regulation questionnaire to ensure its reliability and sensitivity in detecting changes in student abilities.
