    Abstract

    Perkembangan teknologi genetik yang pesat membawa dampak besar dalam berbagai bidang seperti kesehatan, pertanian, dan forensik. Kemajuan ini membuka peluang positif, namun juga menimbulkan kekhawatiran terkait etika, privasi genetik, dan potensi penyalahgunaan. Dinamika pro dan kontra tersebut menuntut masyarakat memiliki pemahaman yang kritis melalui literasi genetik, yaitu kemampuan untuk memahami konsep genetika sekaligus membentuk opini terhadap isu-isu yang menyertainya. Literasi ini membutuhkan keterlibatan aktif, pengaturan diri, serta strategi belajar yang mendalam dan berkelanjutan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pembelajaran berbasis masalah bermuatan isu sosiosaintifik (PBL-SSI) dalam meningkatkan self-regulated learning (SRL) dan literasi genetik peserta didik. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah quasi experimental dengan desain pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari dua kelompok, yaitu kelompok eksperimen yang mendapatkan perlakuan pembelajaran PBL-SSI pada materi hereditas manusia, dan kelompok kontrol yang mengikuti pembelajaran sebagaimana biasanya dilakukan guru. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan convenience sampling dengan total 62 peserta didik dari dua kelas. Instrumen penelitian mencakup kuesioner tervalidasi untuk mengukur SRL, serta soal pilihan ganda dan kuesioner tervalidasi untuk mengukur literasi genetik. Hasil uji beda rata-rata menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran PBL-SSI tidak memberikan pengaruh signifikan terhadap self-regulated learning maupun literasi genetik pada aspek pengetahuan genetik peserta didik, namun memberikan pengaruh signifikan terhadap aspek opini terhadap isu genetik. Selain itu terdapat korelasi positif antara self-regulated learning dengan literasi genetik pada aspek pengetahuan genetik. Penyesuaian strategi belajar penting untuk meningkatkan SRL dan aspek pengetahuan genetik pada literasi genetik. The rapid development of genetic technology has had a profound impact across various fields, including healthcare, agriculture, and forensics. While this advancement offers promising opportunities, it also raises concerns related to ethics, genetic privacy, and the potential for misuse. These contrasting perspectives necessitate that society develop a critical understanding through genetic literacy, which involves comprehending genetic concepts and forming well-informed opinions on emerging genetic issues. Achieving such literacy requires active engagement, self-regulation, and deep, sustained learning strategies. This research aims to determine the effect of problem-based learning with socioscientific issues (PBL-SSI) in enhancing students' self-regulated learning (SRL) and genetic literacy. The research method used is a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group. The research subjects consisted of two groups: an experimental group that received PBL-SSI learning treatment on human heredity material, and a control group that followed the teacher's usual learning methods. Convenience sampling was used, with a total of 62 students from two classes. Research instruments included a validated questionnaire to measure SRL, multiple-choice questions and a questionnaire to measure genetic literacy. Mean difference test results PBL-SSI learning had no significant effect on self-regulated learning or genetic literacy in the genetic knowledge aspect of students. Still, it did have a substantial impact on the opinion aspect of genetic issues. Additionally, a positive correlation was found between self-regulated learning and genetic literacy in the element of genetic knowledge. Adjusting learning strategies is crucial for enhancing self-regulated learning (SRL) and strengthening the knowledge component of genetic literacy.
