    Abstract

    Media pembelajaran yang efektif harus mudah digunakan dan interaktif agar siswa dapat memahami konsep-konsep materi yang abstrak. Namun, studi lapangan di SMK Karya Mandiri mengidentifikasi bahwa pembelajaran masih didominasi metode konvensional seperti papan tulis dan buku paket, serta metode ceramah yang kurang mendorong keterlibatan aktif siswa dan pengembangan kemampuan berpikir kritis. Untuk mengatasi keterbatasan ini, penelitian ini berfokus pada pengembangan dan implementasi media pembelajaran digital storytelling berbasis animasi yang memadukan kekuatan visual dan narasi untuk meningkatkan minat belajar serta kemampuan critical thinking siswa. Model pembelajaran Contextual Teaching & Learning (CTL) dipilih dalam penelitian ini karena kemampuannya untuk mengaitkan materi dengan konteks kehidupan nyata siswa, sehingga pembelajaran menjadi lebih bermakna. Media ini dirancang sebagai alternatif yang lebih menarik dan mudah dipahami dibandingkan metode konvensional. Penelitian dilakukan melalui metode Smart Learning Environment Establishment Guideline (SLEEG) dengan desain one group pretest-posttest. Domain critical thinking yang dikaji adalah klarifikasi dasar dengan indikator pertanyaan fokus, analisis argumen, bertanya dan menjawab pertanyaan klarifikasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan media tersebut berdampak positif terhadap peningkatan kemampuan critical thinking siswa, dengan nilai gain rata-rata sebesar 0,43 yang termasuk dalam kategori sedang. Nilai peningkatan pada tiap indikator meliputi pertanyaan fokus sebesar 0,43, analisis argumen sebesar 0,31, dan bertanya dan menjawab pertanyaan klarifikasi sebesar 0,52. Selain itu, respon siswa terhadap media yang dikembangkan sangat positif, ditunjukkan dengan nilai rata-rata persentase sebesar 87,87% dengan kriteria “Sangat Baik”. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemanfaatan media pembelajaran menggunakan digital storytelling dapat meningkatkan kemampuan critical thinking siswa. Effective learning media must be easy to use and interactive to help students understand abstract concepts. However, field observations at SMK Karya Mandiri identified that learning was still dominated by conventional methods such as whiteboards and textbooks, as well as lectures that inadequately encouraged active student engagement and the development of critical thinking skills. To address these limitations, this study focuses on the development and implementation of digital storytelling through animated videos, which combines the power of visual elements and narration to enhance students' engagement and critical thinking skills. The Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach was chosen for this study due to its ability to connect learning materials with students' real-life contexts, thus making the content more meaningful. This media is designed as a more engaging and accessible alternative to conventional methods. The study was conducted using the Smart Learning Environment Establishment Guideline (SLEEG) method with a one group pretest-posttest design. It focuses on the basic clarification domain of critical thinking with indicators including focusing questions, analyzing arguments, and ask-and-answer clarification. The results indicate that the use of this media positively impacted the enhancement of students' critical thinking abilities, with an average gain score of 0.43, categorized as moderate. Specifically, the gain scores for each indicator were 0.43 for focusing questions, 0.31 for analyzing arguments, and 0.52 for ask-and-answer clarification. Moreover, students responded very positively to the developed media, with an average satisfaction score of 87.87%, categorized as "Very Good". These results suggest that using digital storytelling as a learning medium effectively enhances students’ critical thinking skills.
