    Abstract

    ABSTRAK Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan pemecahan masalah peserta didik yang dibuktikan melalui hasil pra-penelitian di kelas XI SMA Negeri 15 Bandung. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan metode pembelajaran problem solving terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah peserta didik pada materi inflasi dalam mata pelajaran ekonomi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen dengan desain the pretest-posttest control group design yang melibatkan dua kelas, yaitu kelas eksperimen yang diberikan perlakuan dengan metode problem solving dan kelas kontrol yang menggunakan metode konvensional. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa tes uraian sebanyak 5 soal yang mengukur kemampuan pemecahan masalah. Teknik analisis data menggunakan uji statistik parametrik, yaitu uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, serta uji hipotesis melalui paired sample t-test dan independent sample t-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) Tidak terdapat perbedaan kemampuan pemecahan masalah peserta didik di kelas eksperimen sebelum dan sesudah diberi perlakuan metode problem solving (2) Tidak terdapat perbedaan kemampuan pemecahan masalah antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol setelah perlakuan. Nilai N-Gain pada kelas eksperimen (0,1012) dan kelas kontrol (0,0382) tergolong rendah dan menunjukkan peningkatan yang tidak optimal secara praktis. Selain itu, hasil uji t menunjukkan bahwa perbedaan yang terjadi tidak signifikan secara statistik. Dengan demikian, penerapan metode problem solving dalam penelitian ini belum memberikan pengaruh yang nyata terhadap peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah peserta didik. Kata Kunci: Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah, Metode Problem Solving, Materi Inflasi ABSTRACT This research was motivated by the low problem-solving ability of students, as evidenced by the results of preliminary research conducted in Grade XI at SMA Negeri 15 Bandung. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of implementing the problem-solving learning method on students’ problem-solving abilities in the topic of inflation in economics. This research employed a quasi-experimental method with a pretest - posttest control group design, involving two classes an experimental class that received treatment using the problem-solving method, and a control class taught using conventional methods. The research instrument was an essay test consisting of five questions measuring students’ problem-solving skills. Data analysis techniques involved parametric statistical tests, including normality test, homogeneity test, and hypothesis testing through paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test. The results showed that (1) there was no significant difference in students’ problem-solving abilities in the experimental class before and after the implementation of the problem-solving method. (2) there was no significant difference in problem-solving abilities between the experimental and control classes after the treatment. The N-Gain scores in the experimental class (0.1012) and the control class (0.0382) were categorized as low and indicated practically insignificant improvement. Moreover, the t-test results confirmed that the differences were not statistically significant. Therefore, the implementation of the problem-solving method in this research did not produce a meaningful impact on improving students’ problem-solving abilities.
