    Abstract

    Kemampuan berbicara merupakan kunci dalam penguasaan bahasa asing, tetapi tidak sedikit mahasiswa yang mengalami hambatan psikologis seperti demotivasi, yang berdampak pada kepercayaan diri dan partisipasi aktif dalam pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi faktor internal dan eksternal demotivasi berbicara dalam bahasa Korea pada mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Korea. Penelitian menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Penelitian ini melibatkan 110 mahasiswa yang telah menyelesaikan mata kuliah Malhagi 4 dalam dua tahun terakhir sebagai responden, dengan enam di antaranya dipilih untuk diwawancarai secara mendalam. Data yang diambil dari angket dihitung persentasenya untuk menentukan kecenderungan faktor demotivasi yang terlibat. Sedangkan, transkrip wawancara dianalisis dengan mengidentifikasi kode yang terkandung dalam ujaran para responden. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa faktor internal meliputi kemampuan dasar (37%), pengalaman belajar (34%), dan sikap negatif (29%) yang berkontribusi terhadap rendahnya kepercayaan diri. Di sisi lain, faktor eksternal meliputi ekspektasi sosial (38%), lingkungan kelas (34%), dan perilaku pengajar (28%). Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa demotivasi berbicara bahasa Korea sebagai bahasa asing dipengaruhi oleh tidak hanya keterbatasan penguasaan kebahasaan individu, tetapi juga oleh tekanan sosial serta dinamika lingkungan akademik yang membentuk pengalaman belajar mahasiswa secara keseluruhan. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan suasana kelas yang lebih suportif dan strategi pengajaran yang dapat meningkatkan rasa percaya diri mahasiswa. Speaking ability is a key component in mastering a foreign language; however, many students experience psychological barriers such as demotivation, which affect their self-confidence and active participation in the learning process. This study aims to explore the internal and external factors of speaking demotivation in Korean language learning among students of the Korean Language Education Study Program. The research employed a descriptive method with both quantitative and qualitative approaches. This study involved 110 students who had completed the Malhagi 4 course within the past two years as respondents, with six of them selected for in-depth interviews. Questionnaire data were analyzed using percentage calculations to identify the predominant demotivating factors, while interview transcripts were examined by identifying codes emerging from the respondents’ statements. The findings revealed that internal factors include basic ability (37%), learning experience (34%), and negative attitudes (29%), which contribute to decreased self-confidence. Meanwhile, external factors consist of social expectations (38%), classroom environment (34%), and teacher behavior (28%). These findings underscore that speaking demotivation in learning Korean as a foreign language is influenced not only by individual linguistic limitations but also by social pressures and the dynamics of the academic environment that shape student’s overall learning experiences. Therefore, creating a more supportive classroom atmosphere and applying teaching strategies that enhance student’s confidence are necessary. 본 연구는 한국어 교육과 대학생을 대상으로 말하기 학습에서 나타나는 학습 의욕 저하 요인을 내적 요인과 외적 요인으로 나누어 탐색하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구 방법으로는 양적 질적 접근을 병행한 서술적 연구를 사용하였다. 최근 2년간 말하기 4 교과목을 이수한 110명의 학생이 설문 조사에 참여하였으며, 이 중 6명을 선별하여 심층 면담을 진행하였다. 설문 자료는 요인별 비율을 산출하여 학습 의욕 저하의 경향성을 분석하였고, 면담 자료는 발화에서 나타나는 코드를 도출하여 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 내적 요인은 기본 능력(37%), 학습 경험(34%), 부정적 태도(29%)로 나타났으며 이는 학습자의 자신감 저하와 관련이 있었다. 외적 요인은 사회적 기대(38%), 교실 환경(34%), 교사 행동(28%)으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 외국어로서의 한국어 말하기 학습에서 학습 의욕 저하가 개인의 언어 능력 한계뿐만 아니라 사회적 압력과 학습 환경의 역동성에 의해서도 형성된다는 점을 시사한다. 따라서 보다 지원적인 교실 분위기를 조성하고 학생들의 자신감을 높이는 교수 전략을 적용하는 것이 필요한다.
