Abstract
Membaca merupakan hal yang krusial sebagai fondasi bagi siswa untuk mengembangkan keterampilan berbahasa mereka. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh dan peningkatan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas V pada pembelajaran teks narasi yang belajar menggunakan metode Extending Concept Through Language Activities (ECOLA) berbantuan media Literacy Cloud dibandingkan dengan siswa yang belajar menggunakan metode Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA). Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuasi eksperimen dengan desain Nonequivalent Control Group. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di kelas V SDN 1 Munjuljaya Kabupaten Purwakarta. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari 26 siswa kelas VD sebagai kelas eksperimen yang menerapkan metode ECOLA dan 26 siswa kelas VC sebagai kelas kontrol yang mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan metode DRTA. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa sebelum dan sesudah menerapkan metode ECOLA memperoleh peningkatan sebesar 58,3% dengan kategori tafsiran cukup efektif. Adanya pengaruh metode ECOLA berbantuan media Literacy Cloud terhadap kemampuan membaca pemahaman teks narasi siswa sebesar 30,4%. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode ECOLA berbantuan media Literacy Cloud dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman teks narasi lebih baik dibandingkan dengan siswa yang menggunakan metode DRTA. ----- Reading is a fundamental skill that serves as the foundation for students to develop their language abilities. This study aims to examine the effect and improvement of fifth-grade students' reading comprehension in narrative texts by applying the Extending Concept Through Language Activities (ECOLA) method assisted by the Literacy Cloud media, compared to the Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) method. This research employed a quasi-experimental with a nonequivalent control group design. The research was conducted in Grade V at SDN 1 Munjuljaya, Purwakarta Regency. The sample consisted of 26 students from class VD, serving as the experimental group (ECOLA method), and 26 students from class VC, serving as the control group (DRTA method). The results showed a 58.3% improvement in reading comprehension after implementing the ECOLA method, categorized as moderately effective. The influence of the ECOLA method assisted by Literacy Cloud on students' reading comprehension was 30.4%. It can be concluded that the ECOLA method assisted by Literacy Cloud media is more effective in enhancing students’ comprehension of narrative texts compared to the DRTA method.
