    Abstract

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: 1) Mengetahui pengaruh metode Empat Tahap Steinberg berbantuan media Ular Tangga terhadap kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa kelas I SDIT Al-Bina Purwakarta; 2) Mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa kelas I SDIT Al-Bina Purwakarta yang menggunakan metode Empat Tahap Steinberg berbantuan media Ular Tangga lebih baik dibandingkan siswa yang menggunakan metode Suku Kata. Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa kelas I yang masih kurang lancar dan kurang bervariasinya metode serta media pembelajaran dalam kemsmpusn membaca permulaan pada siswa karena keberhasilan belajar siswa di jenjang awal sangat dipengaruhi oleh kemampuan ini. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah Quasi Eksperimen dengan desain Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas I SDIT Al-Bina Puwakarta sebanyak 56 siswa yang dibagi menjadi 2 kelas secara rata antara kelompok kelas eksperimen dan kelompok kelas kontrol. Berdasarkan pada hasil yang diperoleh dari penelitian ini, antara lain: 1) Adanya pengaruh sebesar 72,9% dari penggunaan metode Empat Tahap Steinberg berbantuan media Ular Tangga terhadap kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa; 2) Adanya peningkatan kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa pada penggunaan metode Empat Tahap Steinberg berbantuan media Ular Tangga yang lebih baik dibandingkan siswa yang menggunakan metode Suku Kata. Penggunaan metode Empat Tahap Steinberg berbantuan media Ular Tangga dalam penelitian ini terbukti sangat efektif meningkatkan kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa kelas I SDIT Al-Bina Purwakarta, bahkan lebih baik dibandingkan dengan metode Suku Kata. ----- This study aims to: 1) Determine the effect of the Steinberg Four Stage method assisted by Snakes and Ladders media on the initial reading ability of first-grade students of SDIT Al-Bina Purwakarta; 2) Determine the increase in the initial reading ability of first-grade students of SDIT Al-Bina Purwakarta who use the Steinberg Four Stage method assisted by Snakes and Ladders media is better than students who use the Syllable method. This study is motivated by the initial reading ability of first-grade students who are still not fluent and the lack of variety of methods and learning media in the initial reading ability of students because the success of student learning at the early level is greatly influenced by this ability. The type of research used is Quasi Experiment with Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The sample of this study was 56 first-grade students of SDIT Al-Bina Puwakarta who were divided into 2 classes equally between the experimental class group and the control class group. Based on the results obtained from this study, among others: 1) There is an influence of 72.9% from the use of the Steinberg Four Stage method assisted by Snakes and Ladders media on students' initial reading ability; 2) There was an improvement in students' beginning reading skills using Steinberg's Four-Stage Method with the Snakes and Ladders method, which was better than those using the Syllable Method. The use of Steinberg's Four-Stage Method with the Snakes and Ladders method in this study proved very effective in improving the beginning reading skills of first-grade students at SDIT Al-Bina Purwakarta, even better than those using the Syllable Method.
