    Abstract

    Kemandirian merupakan salah satu aspek penting dalam perkembangan anak usia dini, karena berkaitan dengan kemampuan anak untuk mengelola diri, mengambil keputusan, dan menyelesaikan tugas tanpa ketergantungan pada orang lain. Namun, dalam praktiknya, masih banyak anak usia dini yang menunjukkan tingkat kemandirian yang rendah, sehingga memerlukan intervensi yang tepat dari lingkungan sekolah dan keluarga. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan proses pembentukan karakter kemandirian anak usia 4–5 tahun di TK Plus Bina Insani Kabupaten Garut. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis studi kasus. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan studi dokumentasi, yang kemudian dianalisis menggunakan model Miles dan Huberman melalui tahapan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembentukan karakter kemandirian dilakukan melalui strategi pembiasaan, pemberian tanggung jawab, keteladanan guru, dan penguatan positif. Peran guru sebagai fasilitator, motivator, dan model sangat dominan dalam menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang mendukung. Faktor pendukung mencakup budaya sekolah yang positif dan keterlibatan orang tua, sementara hambatan utamanya adalah keterbatasan fasilitas serta pola asuh yang belum konsisten. Penelitian ini menegaskan pentingnya sinergi antara sekolah dan keluarga dalam mengembangkan karakter kemandirian anak usia dini secara optimal. Independence is one of the essential aspects of early childhood development, as it relates to a child's ability to manage themselves, make decisions, and complete tasks without relying on others. However, in practice, many young children still demonstrate low levels of independence, thus requiring appropriate interventions from both school and family environments. This study aims to describe the process of character-building for independence in children aged 4–5 years at TK Plus Bina Insani in Garut Regency. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the development of independent character is fostered through strategies such as routine habituation, assigning responsibilities, teacher modeling, and positive reinforcement. The teacher’s role as facilitator, motivator, and role model is particularly dominant in creating a supportive learning environment. Supporting factors include a positive school culture and parental involvement, while the main obstacles are limited facilities and inconsistent parenting patterns. This research emphasizes the importance of synergy between school and family in optimally nurturing independence in early childhood.
