    Abstract

This study aims to explore the transitivity system in Sundanese report texts using a Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) approach within a case study methodology. The study is guided by two primary research questions: (1) What types of processes in the transitivity system are identified in Sundanese report texts? and (2) How do these processes contribute to the construction of experiential meaning in these texts? To address these questions, four Sundanese report texts were analyzed as case studies, with a focus on identifying and categorizing various transitivity processes, including material, mental, relational, behavioral, verbal, and existential processes. The analysis indicates that relational processes are the most prevalent, suggesting that these texts tend to emphasize the depiction of states and relationships between entities rather than physical actions. Although behavioral, verbal, and existential processes appear less frequently, they still contribute to the overall meaning of the texts. These findings provide preliminary insights into the function of the transitivity system in Sundanese report texts and highlight the importance of further research to deepen the understanding of the varying roles of these processes in different textual contexts. The results of this study may also contribute to the broader field of Sundanese linguistic studies, particularly in the application of SFLbased analysis, which has been relatively underexplored. This study further explores the transitivity system in the Sundanese language, specifically within report texts, and strengthens the findings of previous research.
