Abstract
Technological developments encourage students to have digital literacy skills to support independent learning in the digital era. This study aims to determine the relationship between digital literacy and self-directed learning in students of the Educational Technology Study Program at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. Digital literacy is an essential skill in accessing, understanding, evaluating, and utilizing digital information effectively, which can support students' ability to manage learning independently or self-directed learning. Self-directed learning in this study focuses on aspects of learning motivation, planning and implementation, self-monitoring, and interpersonal communication. This research uses a quantitative approach with a correlational method. The research sample amounted to 195 active students of Educational Technology from 2021 to 2024 who were taken using proportionate stratified random sampling technique. The instrument used was a questionnaire with a Likert scale to measure the level of digital literacy and self-directed learning. The results of the analysis of the Spearman Rank correlation show that there is a positive and significant and strong relationship between digital literacy and self-directed learning (r = 0.672, p < 0.05). Similarly, the aspects of self-directed learning namely learning motivation (r = 0.618, p < 0.05), planning and implementation (r = 0.561, p < 0.05), and self-monitoring (r = 0.626, p < 0.05) show that there is a strong relationship, while the aspect of interpersonal communication (r = 0.434, p < 0.05) shows a moderate level of relationship. Thus, the higher the level of students' digital literacy, the better their self-directed learning ability. This finding is expected to be a reference for educational institutions to support the development of digital literacy skills to support students' self-directed learning in the digital era.
