Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the integration of the Living Values Education (LVE) approach through martial arts activities to develop adolescent self-regulation. This study used an experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design. The population in this study were adolescents aged 16-18 years who participated in martial arts activities (karate, taekwondo, pencak silat) in Bandung City, totaling 245 adolescents. A total of 71 samples were selected in this study using the stratified proportional random sampling technique. After determining the number of samples, the researcher conducted a random assignment to divide the samples into two groups A1 (LVE integration group) totaling 36 samples and group A2 (group without LVE integration) totaling 35 samples. The instrument in this study used the self-regulation martial arts questionnaire (SR-MAQ) to measure adolescent self-regulation in the aspects of behavior, metacognition and motivation. The results of the study showed (1) there is an influence of the integration of the living values education (LVE) approach through martial arts activities on adolescent self-regulation, (2) there is an influence of martial arts activities without the integration of the living values education LVE approach on adolescent self-regulation, (3) there is a difference in the influence of the integration of living values education (LVE) and without the integration of living values education through martial arts activities on adolescent self-regulation. The conclusion of this study is 1) Integration of Living Values Education (LVE) through martial arts has a significant effect on adolescent self-regulation, 2) without LVE integration and the support of competent coaches, martial arts are not effective in developing self-regulation in adolescents, 3) Integration of Living Values Education (LVE) through martial arts activities has a significantly different effect on adolescent self-regulation compared to without LVE integration.
