    Abstract

    Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya berpikir kritis peserta didik SMA. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) berbantuan simulasi PhET dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik pada materi dinamika rotasi, mengidentifikasi keefektifan model PBL berbantuan PhET dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik, mendeskripsikan keterlaksanaan model PBL berbantuan PhET, serta memperoleh gambaran mengenai respons peserta didik terhadap penerapan model tersebut. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode quasi experimental design tipe nonequivalent control group design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah peserta didik kelas XI (Fase F) di salah satu SMA di Kota Bandung, dengan dua kelas sebagai sampel yang dipilih menggunakan teknik convenience sampling, melibatkan 72 peserta didik yang terdiri dari 33 peserta didik kelas eksperimen dan 32 peserta didik kelas kontrol. Instrumen yang digunakan meliputi modul ajar dan LKPD sebagai instrumen pembelajaran, tes berpikir kritis berbentuk pilihan ganda sebanyak 13 soal untuk mengukur peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis melalui pretest dan posttest, lembar observasi keterlaksanaan pembelajaran, serta angket respon peserta didik terhadap penerapan model pembelajaran. Data dianalisis menggunakan rata-rata persentase untuk keterlaksanaan dan respons peserta didik, n-gain untuk peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis, serta uji independent t-test dan effect size untuk menguji efektivitas model pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterlaksanaan pembelajaran pada kelas eksperimen tergolong sangat baik dengan rata-rata skor keterlaksanaan sebesar 95,6%. Rata-rata n-gain keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik pada kelas eksperimen berada pada kategori sedang (0,49), lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelas kontrol yang berada pada kategori rendah (0,27). Uji t menunjukkan adanya perbedaan signifikan antara kedua kelas, dengan nilai effect size berada dalam kategori sedang. Respons peserta didik terhadap penerapan model PBL berbantuan PhET juga tergolong baik, dengan rata-rata persentase sebesar 80,50%. Dengan demikian, penerapan model PBL berbantuan simulasi PhET efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik pada materi dinamika rotasi.

    This study was initiated due to the low level of students' critical thinking skills. It aims to investigate the effect of implementing the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by PhET simulations in improving students’ critical thinking skills on rotational dynamics, to identify the effectiveness of the model, to describe its implementation, and to explore students’ responses to the model. The research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using a non-equivalent control group design. The population consisted of 11th grade students (Phase F) at a senior high school in Bandung, with two classes selected through convenience sampling, involving 72 students—33 in the experimental class and 32 in the control class. The instruments included learning tools (lesson plans and worksheets), a critical thinking test consisting of 13 multiple-choice items administered as pretest and post-test, an observation sheet for implementation, and a student response questionnaire. Data were analysed using mean percentages for implementation and responses, n-gain to measure improvement in critical thinking, and independent t-test along with effect size to determine the effectiveness of the model. The results showed that the implementation of the learning process in the experimental class was categorized as excellent with an average implementation score of 95.6%. The average n-gain of students’ critical thinking skills in the experimental class was in the medium category (0.49), higher than the control class (0.27) which fell into the low category. The t-test revealed a significant difference between the two classes, with a medium effect size. Student responses to the PBL model assisted by PhET were also positive, with an average percentage of 80.50%. Thus, the implementation of the PBL model assisted by PhET simulations is effective in enhancing students’ critical thinking skills on the topic of rotational dynamics.
