Abstract

PENGEMBANGAN MEDIA KOMUNIKASI BERBASIS AUGMENTATIF “MOKU” UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN BAHASA EKSPRESIF PADA ANAK DENGAN AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER Kiki Rezkiani, S.Ap, 2112905 Program Studi Pendidikan Khusus, Fakultas Ilmu Pendidikan Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia kikirezkiani@upi.edu Penelitian ini mengembangkan media komunikasi berbasis augmentatif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan bahasa ekspresif secara verbal sesuai struktur kalimat pada anak dengan autism spectrum disorder. Subjek penelitian adalah anak laki-laki autism spectrum disorder berusia 9 tahun yang memiliki potensi verbal dan membutuhkan dukungan substansial dalam berkomunikasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan mixed methods dengan exploratory design dan single subject research dengan desain A-B-A. Data kualitatif diperoleh melalui observasi dan wawancara sementara untuk data kuantitatif dikumpulkan melalui penghitungan frekuensi respon verbal dengan pengolahan data statistika deskriptif olah data dan grafik. Instrumen menggunakan instrumen observasi, wawancara, dan tes perbuatan. Hasil penelitian ini adalah media komunikasi berbasis augmentatif “MOKU” berbentuk hardware yang mengkombinasikan visual berupa gambar dan teks serta audio untuk meningkatkan kemampuan bahasa ekspresif subjek yang sesuai struktur kalimat. Implikasi penggunaan media komunikasi berbasis augmentatif "MOKU" terbukti efektif yang ditunjukkan pada peningkatan target behavior melalui pendekatan multimodal dan interaktif yang mengintegrasikan visual dan audio pada anak dengan autism spectrum disorder secara verbal yang sesuai dengan struktur kalimat dalam aktivitas sehari-hari. The research subject is a 9-year-old male with ASD who possesses verbal potential and requires substantial support for communication. This study employs a mixed methods approach with an exploratory design and a single subject research design using A-B-A. Qualitative data were obtained through observations and interviews, while quantitative data were collected by counting the frequency of verbal responses and processed using descriptive statistical analysis and graphs. The instruments used were observation, interview, and performance tests. The results of this study show that the augmentative communication media “MOKU,” in the form of hardware combining visuals such as images and text with audio, effectively enhances the subject's expressive language skills in accordance with sentence structure. The impact of using the augmentative communication media "MOKU" was proven to be effective, as evidenced by the improvement in expressive language skills in the child with autism spectrum disorder, in verbal form and aligned with sentence structure, during daily activities at school.
