Abstract

Pendidikan karakter peduli lingkungan sangat penting diera sekarang karena maraknya berita penumpukan sampah dimana-mana secara nasional dan internasional. Penumpukan sampah juga semakin meningkat karena kurangnya kepedulian masyarakat akan lingkungan dan kebersihan. Salah satu cara yang efektif untuk menumbuhkan karakter peduli lingkungan dengan menerapkan program adiwiyata di sekolah terutama di tingkat sekolah dasar, karena tingkat sekolah dasar adalah awal pembentukan karakter siswa sampai dewasa. Maka penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami proses pelaksanaan dan implikasi pembinaan karakter peduli lingkungan siswa melalui program sekolah adiwiyata di SDN Ciceri, yang berlokasi di Jl. KH Abdul Latif No. 26, Sumur Pecung Baru, Kota Serang. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan kuesioner untuk memperoleh gambaran yang komprehensif. Program Adiwiyata di SDN Ciceri melibatkan berbagai kegiatan yang mendukung pembiasaan peduli lingkungan, seperti membersihkan halaman sekolah, menjaga kebersihan kamar mandi, melaksanakan piket mingguan, melaksanakan program ratu melisa "Radius Satu Meter Lihat Sampah Ambil" dan membawa bekal makanan untuk mengurangi penggunaan sampah plastik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa program Adiwiyata efektif dalam menanamkan nilai-nilai pembinaan karakter peduli lingkungan, disiplin, dan tanggung jawab kepada siswa. Keberhasilan program ini dilihat dari hasil kuesioner penelitian yang menunjukan presentase sebesar 90,6% sudah tertanam karakter peduli lingkungan melalui program adiwiyata. Dari penelitian ini peneliti berharap bisa memberikan kontribusi pengembangan program adiwiyata sebagai upaya strategis membina karakter peduli lingkungan siswa, serta menjadi acuan bagi sekolah lainnya untuk membentuk karakter peduli lingkungan untuk generasi yang peduli lingkungan dan kebersihan. Environmental character education is very important in today's era because of the rampant news of garbage accumulation everywhere nationally and internationally. Garbage accumulation is also increasing due to the lack of public awareness of the environment and cleanliness. One effective way to foster an environmentally conscious character is by implementing the Adiwiyata program in schools, especially at the elementary school level, because the elementary school level is the beginning of the formation of students' characters until adulthood. So this study aims to understand the implementation process and implications of fostering students' environmentally conscious character through the Adiwiyata school program at SDN Ciceri, located at Jl. KH Abdul Latif No. 26, Sumur Pecung Baru, Serang City. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and questionnaires to obtain a comprehensive picture. The Adiwiyata program at SDN Ciceri involves various activities that support the habit of caring for the environment, such as cleaning the school yard, maintaining the cleanliness of the bathroom, carrying out weekly pickets, implementing the Ratu Melisa program "One Meter Radius See Garbage Pick Up" and bringing food supplies to reduce the use of plastic waste. The results of the study indicate that the Adiwiyata program is effective in instilling the values of character building care for the environment, discipline, and responsibility to students. The success of this program can be seen from the results of the research questionnaire which shows a percentage of 90.6% have instilled a caring character for the environment through the Adiwiyata program. From this study, researchers hope to be able to contribute to the development of the Adiwiyata program as a strategic effort to foster students' caring character for the environment, as well as being a reference for other schools to form a caring character for the environment for a generation that cares about the environment and cleanliness.
