Hanifah Zahra, - (2025) PENGARUH SOCIAL CONNECTEDNESS TERHADAP IDE BUNUH DIRI YANG DIMEDIASI OLEH GEJALA DEPRESI PADA MAHASISWA DI KOTA BANDUNG. S1 thesis, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia.
Abstract
This study aims to determine the role of depressive symptoms as a mediator of the influence of social connectedness on suicidal ideation in college students in Bandung City. The research sample consisted of 403 active students aged 18-25 years studying in Bandung City. Respondents were selected through a purposive sampling technique. Researchers used the Social Connectedness Scale-Revised (SCS-R) to measure the level of social connectedness, the Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II) to measure the level of depressive symptoms, and the Revised-Suicide Ideation Scale (R-SIS) to measure the level of suicidal ideation of respondents. Simple and multiple linear regression tests were conducted to test the hypotheses. Furthermore, the techniques used to test the mediating effect of depressive symptoms were path analysis and the Sobel test. Based on data analysis, the result obtained is that depressive symptoms become a partial mediator in the influence of social connectedness on suicidal ideation. Future researchers can equalize the proportion of the number of respondents, conduct research on a homogeneous population, conduct research that focuses on respondents with the same level of depressive symptoms, and group samples according to the categorization of social connectedness.
