Abstract

Penelitian ini didasari dengan adanya fenomena berupa meningkatnya pemelajar bahasa Korea di Indonesia baik secara formal maupun nonformal. Namun, masih banyak pemelajar yang merasa kesulitan dalam mengembangkan kemampuan berbicara bahasa Korea. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh dari metode pembelajaran Silent Way dalam pembelajaran berbicara bahasa Korea. Metode Silent Way yang menggunakan alat bantu visual dan sedikitnya intervensi verbal oleh pengajar diharapkan dapat mendorong pemelajar lebih aktif dan mandiri pada saat pembelajaran. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain pre-experimental one group pretest – posttest yang diujikan kepada 16 peserta didik kelas X ekstrakurikuler Han Goreum SMK Negeri 1 Bandung. Penelitian ini juga menggunakan instrumen angket untuk mengetahui tanggapan peserta didik terhadap penggunaan metode pembelajaran Silent Way. Temuan dari penelitian ini mengindikasikan adanya peningkatan kemampuan berbicara bahasa Korea peserta didik. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan nilai rata-rata peserta didik pada saat pretest yaitu 52.50 atau ‘Cukup’, dan nilai rata-rata pada saat posttest adalah 76.25 atau ‘Baik’. Hasil uji hipotesis dengan menggunakan Uji t dengan taraf signifikansi 5% menunjukkan bahwa t-hitung (15.562) > t-tabel (2.131) dari hasil tersebut maka Ho ditolak dan Ha diterima. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa metode pembelajaran Silent Way berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan berbicara bahasa Korea peserta didik kelas X ekstrakurikuler Han Goreum SMK Negeri 1 Bandung. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat bermanfaat dan menjadi referensi atau rujukan bagi perkembangan pembelajaran bahasa asing khususnya dalam pembelajaran bahasa Korea yang inovatif dan variatif dalam kegiatan belajar mengajar. This study is based on the phenomenon of the increasing number of Korean language learners in Indonesia, both in formal and non-formal settings. However, many learners still struggle to develop their Korean speaking skills. This study aims to examine the effect of the Silent Way method in Korean language learning, particularly in improving speaking skills. The Silent Way method, which employs visual aids and minimal verbal intervention by teacher, is expected to encourage learners to become more active and independent during the learning process. This research utilized a quantitative method with a pre-experimental one group pretest – posttest design applied to 16 tenth-grade Han Goreum extracurricular students from SMK Negeri 1 Bandung. A questionnaire was also used to gather students responses to the application of the Silent Way Method. The findings indicate an improvement in students Korean speaking skills. This is evidenced by the average pretest score of 52.50, categorized ‘Average’, and the posttest average score of 76.25, categorized ‘Good’. The hypothesis test using a t-test at a 5% significance level shows that t-value (15.562) > t-table (2.131). Based on these results, the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. This study concludes that the Silent Way method significantly influences the Korean speaking skills of tenth-grade extracurricular students of Han Goreum, SMK Negeri 1 Bandung. It is hoped that this research will be beneficial and serve as a reference for the development of foreign language learning, particularly in fostering innovative and varied approaches to teaching Korean. 본 연구는 한국어 학습, 특히 말하기 능력을 향상시키는 데 있어 침묵식 교수법 ‘Silent Way method’ 효과를 알아보는 것을 목적으로 한다. 침묵식 교수법은 시각적 도구를 사용하고 교사의 언어적 개입을 최소화하여 학습자가 수업 시간에 더 적극적이고 자율적으로 참여할 수 있도록 설계되었다. 본 연구는 단일집단을 사전-사후, 사전시험설 계의 정략적 방법으로 진행되었으며, SMK Negeri 1 Bandung의 ‘한 걸음’ 동아리, 10학년 학생 16명을 대상으로 진행되었다. 또한, 침묵식 교수법에 대한 학습자들의 반응을 조사하기 위해 설문지를 사용하였다. 연구 결과에 따라, 학습자의 한국어 말하기 능력이 향상된 것으로 나타났으며 사전 평가에서 학습자들의 평균 점수는 52.50 ‘보통’ 이었으나, 사후 평가에서는 76.25 ‘좋음’ 로 증가했다. 유의 수준 5%에서의 t-검정에서 t-value (15.562)가 t-table (2.131)보다 크게 나타났다. 따라서 영가설 (Ho)은 기각되고 대립가설 (Ha)은 채택되었다. 본 연구는 침묵식 교수법이 SMK Negeri 1 Bandung의 ‘한 걸음’ 동아리 10학년 학습자들의 한국어 말하기 능력에 긍정적인 영향을 미친다는 결론을 내렸다. 이는 침묵식 교수법을 활용한 이후 학습자들의 한국어 말하기 능력이 향상된 것을 통해 확인되었다. 이 연구가 외국어 학습, 특히 한국어 학습의 발전에 있어 혁신적이고 다양한 교수·학습 활동을 위한 참고 자료로 활용되며 유익한 도움이 되기를 기대한다.
