Abstract

Revolusi industri 4.0 menuntut mahasiswa menguasai keterampilan abad ke-21, khususnya berpikir kreatif, untuk menghadapi tantangan global, namun praktikum kimia organik sering kali tidak ramah lingkungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan model project-based learning (PjBL) dengan pendekatan Green Chemistry pada topik minyak sereh untuk meningkatkan penguasaan konsep dan keterampilan berpikir kreatif mahasiswa. Penelitian mixed methods embedded experimental design ini melibatkan 37 mahasiswa pendidikan kimia semester lima menggunakan asesmen 10 soal esai pada pretest-posttest, LKM dan panduan pembentukan produk. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan hasil tes, dengan fokus pada konsep isolasi, karakterisasi, dan inovasi produk minyak sereh, serta peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kreatif mahasiswa pada indikator fluency, flexibility, originality, dan elaboration. Skor originality mahasiswa tertinggi dan elaboration terendah. Keunggulan model inovasi project-based learning dengan pendekatan Green Chemistry diantaranya dapat meningkatkan kegiatan praktikum dan kolaborasi mahasiswa, meskipun terdapat keterbatasan waktu dan alat. Model ini dapat digunakan untuk mendukung pembelajaran praktikum berbasis proyek lain yang dapat diterapkan dan relevan dengan isu keberlanjutan dengan SDGs 2030, berdasarkan kompetensi abad ke-21 melalui penggunaan instrumen penilaian yang komprehensif untuk mengukur perkembangan kreativitas ilmiah secara menantang. The Industrial Revolution 4.0 requires students’ 21st-century skills, particularly in creative thinking skills, to face of the global challenges, but Organic chemistry laboratory activities usually lack of environmental friendliness. This study aims to develop a project-based learning (PjBL) model with a Green Chemistry approach, on the topic of citronella oil to enhance students' conceptual mastery and creative thinking skills. This research using mixed-methods embedded experimental design. The study involved 37students of fifth-semester chemistry education through a pretest-posttest framework with 10 items essay test. The finding shows significant pretest-posttest improvements, focusing on the concepts of isolation, characterization, and innovation of citronella oil products, as well as enhanced creative thinking skills students in the indicators of fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. The highest score in students originality but elaboration is the lowest. The advantages of the innovative PjBL model with a Green Chemistry approach include increased students’ lab activities and collaboration, but its has a limitations in time and equipment. This model also supports project-based other lab activities that applicable, and relevant to sustainability issues of SDGs 2030, based on the 21st-century competencies. This also using comprehensive assessment in measuring scientific creativity development in a challenging way.
