S2 thesis, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia.

Abstract

This study was aimed to examine the Social Cognitive Theory (Bandura, 1976) and the Theory of Planned Behavior (Ajzen, 1991), to investigate the theory of perceived behavior control, opportunity recognition, entrepreneurial intention, and entrepreneurship education; and to assess the potential influence of perceived behavior control and opportunity recognition on entrepreneurial intention, moderated by entrepreneurship education. A quantitative approach with an explanatory survey method was employed in this study, data were collected through questionnaires from 345 students of the Faculty of Economics and Business Education, Indonesia University of Education, who were selected based on simple random sampling techniques. Data analysis was performed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). This study shows that perceived behavior control and opportunity recognition have a significant effect on student entrepreneurial intention, entrepreneurship education can moderate perceived behavior control and opportunity recognition on entrepreneurial intention. The practical implication of this study is that entrepreneurship education that includes practical skill development and hands-on experience can improve students' ability to recognize opportunities and manage businesses, encouraging them to become entrepreneurs. Further research was expected to use the three components in the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). It was then recommended that subsequent researchers develop a more comprehensive moderation model and consider factors that could influence entrepreneurial intention, including both internal factors such as creativity, desire for independence, family security, self-fulfillment, and self-actualization; and external factors such as social support from others, social environment, and experience.
