Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh sebuah permasalahan akan rendahnya kemampuan peserta didik pada pembelajaran matematika materi perkalian di sekolah dasar. Adapun tujuan dilakukannya penelitian ini tidak lain untuk mengetahui sejauh mana efektivitas dari media corong berhitung terhadap peningkatan pemahaman peserta didik matematika materi perkalian di kelas III sekolah dasar. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu desain quasi eksperimen. Pada penelitian ini peneliti menggunakan desain penelitian nonequivalent control group design. Populasi penelitian ini ialah Sekolah Dasar yang berlokasi di kecamatan Mangunjaya, Kabupaten Pangandaran. Adapun kelas sampel dalam penelitian ini yaitu peserta didik di kelas III SDN 4 Mangunjaya, Kec. Mangunjaya, Kab. Pangandaran. Jumlah sampel yang akan diteliti sebanyak 44 siswa, dengan mengambil dua rombel (rombongan belajar), adapun rinciannya: 22 siswa kelas A dan 22 siswa kelas B. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan ialah bentuk tes yang diberikan melalui pretest dan posttest. Berdasarkan hasil analisis deskriptif dan statistik inferensial dibuktikan bahwa, pemahaman kelas eksperimen yang diberikan perlakuan lebih baik dari kelas kontrol. Hal tersebut dibuktikan dari perolehan nilai rata-rata uji-t lebih dari taraf signifikansi yang digunakan. Hasil nilai rata-rata n-gain skor untuk kelas eksperimen (menggunakan media corong berhitung) termasuk kedalam kategori cukup efektif. Sedangkan nilai rata-rata n-gain skor pada kelas kontrol (tanpa menggunakan media corong berhitung) termasuk kedalam kategori tidak efektif. Sehingga disimpulkan bahwa media corong berhitung efektif memberikan pengaruh terhadap peningkatan pemahaman peserta didik materi perkalian kelas III sekolah dasar. This research was motivated by a problem regarding the low ability of students in learning mathematics in multiplication material in elementary schools. The purpose of this research is none other than to find out the extent of the effectiveness of the counting funnel media in increasing mathematics students' understanding of multiplication material in class III of elementary school. The research method used is a quasi-experimental design. In this study, researchers used a nonequivalent control group design. The population of this research is elementary schools located in Mangunjaya sub-district, Pangandaran Regency. The sample class in this research is students in class III of SDN 4 Mangunjaya, Kec. Mangunjaya, Kab. Pangandaran. The number of samples to be studied is 44 students, taking two groups (study groups), as for the details: 22 class A students and 22 class B students. The data collection technique used is a form of test given through pretest and posttest. Based on the results of inferential statistical analysis, it was proven that the understanding of the experimental class that was given treatment was better than that of the control class. This is proven by the average t-test value obtained which is more than the significance level used. The results of the average n-gain score for the experimental class (using counting funnel media) are included in the quite effective category. Meanwhile, the average n-gain score in the control class (without using counting funnel media) is included in the ineffective category. So it was concluded that the counting funnel media effectively had an influence on increasing students' understanding of multiplication material in grade III elementary school.
