Abstract
Sekolah memiliki peran dalam membentuk karakter anak. Salah satu tujuan pendidikan nasional adalah pembentukan karakter yang tercantum pada Pasal I UU SISDIKNAS tahun 2003. Karakter tangguh adalah sumber daya perlawanan ketika menghadapi peristiwa yang penuh tekanan. Ketidaksiapan yang dihadapi siswa dalam melihat situasi kehidupan merupakan akibat dari kelemahan karakter yang mempengaruhi kesehatan mental siswa. Tujuan dari penelitian ini dirancang untuk memberikan wawasan mendalam mengenai kondisi, peran dan dampak karakter tangguh siswa terhadap terciptanya mental yang sehat. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode studi kasus. Instrumen penelitan yang digunakan adalah lembar observasi, lembar wawancara, dan lembar dokumentasi. Data dalam penelitian ini diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi di SMA Negeri 8 Kota Bandung dengan subjek penelitian yaitu siswa kelas X-9 dan XI-7. Data yang terkumpul kemudian di analisis dengan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan pengambilan kesimpulan & verifikasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa sekolah sangat memperhatikan kesehatan mental siswanya, melalui program bimbingan classical, program kedisiplinan, dan program keagamaan. Pihak sekolah melakukan beberapa strategi untuk terealisasinya implementasi dari peran karakter tangguh seperti memelihara psikologis siswa, mengembangkan self-esteem, dan meningkatkan kemampuan manajemen coping. Terdapat juga kendala dari faktor orang tua yang membuat proses pembentukkan karakter tangguh ini berjalan kurang efektif. Oleh karena itu setiap sekolah penting untuk memiliki program karakter tangguh dengan melibatkan peran orang tua didalamnya supaya tercipta keselarasan dalam mendidik siswa baik itu di lingkungan sekolah ataupun lingkungan rumah. Schools have a role in shaping children's character. One of the goals of national education is character building, which is listed in Article I of the 2003 SISDIKNAS Law. Resilient character is a source of resistance when facing stressful events. The unpreparedness that students face in viewing life situations is a result of character weaknesses that affect students' mental health. The purpose of this study is designed to provide in-depth insight into the condition, role and impact of students' resilient character on the creation of mental health. This research method uses a case study method. The research instruments used were observation sheets, interview sheets, and documentation sheets. The data in this study were obtained through observations, interviews, and documentation at SMA Negeri 8 Bandung City with the research subjects being students of class X-9 and XI-7. The collected data were then analyzed by data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion making & verification. The results of this study indicate that schools are very concerned about the mental health of their students, through classical guidance programs, discipline programs, and religious programs. The school carried out several strategies to realize the implementation of the role of resilient character such as maintaining student psychology, developing self-esteem, and improving coping management skills. There are also obstacles from parental factors that make this resilient character building process run less effectively. Therefore, every school is important to have a resilient character program by involving the role of parents in it in order to create harmony in educating students both in the school environment and the home environment.
