Abstract

The creation of contemporary music is important as a marker of musical civilization itself. This research aims to create music based on research that explores extended techniques on the flute, fixed media audio design, and the combination of fixed media with the application of extended flute techniques in the work “Gone”. This creative research is important as an innovative expression of the researcher, driven by both internal and external motivations through empirical experience, and technological developments that influence the paradigm of instrument playing without human performance. This research method uses a qualitative paradigm applied with the artistic research method of practice-led research, which involves creating and reflecting on new works through practice-based research. The results of this study found that the combination of extended flute techniques and fixed media in the work “Gone” demonstrates communication between live performance and electronics. In conclusion, electroacoustic flute music and fixed media prove the existence of contemporary music creation efforts in musical civilization as an innovative expression of societal needs in the context of art. This research is expected to serve as a learning medium in the context of music education.
