Abstract

The present study aims to investigate the implementation of teacher’s oral corrective feedback on speaking skill. This study also identifies the teacher’s preferences in implementing oral corrective feedback for Indonesian junior high school students on their speaking performance and students’ attitudes towards it. This present qualitative case study involved one teacher and twenty-six junior high school students in Bandung. The data of the study were obtained from classroom observation, teacher’s interview and students’ questionnaire. The result showed that the teacher preferred correcting all of students’ errors immediately with recast and explicit correction. She added that feedback provider should be from the teacher first. Most frequently used form of oral corrective feedback in the classroom are recast and elicitation. Regarding the students’ attitudes, cognitively, students perceive the oral corrective feedback as a beneficial learning tool for them. Affectively, students were happy and become motivated in learning after receive corrective feedback.
