Abstract
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengeksplorasi aspek-etnomatematika dari gamelan Sunda dan integrasinya dalam pembelajaran matematika di SMP, dengan fokus pada materi tentang proporsi dan geometri. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode etnografi untuk mengumpulkan data kualitatif. Penelitian dilakukan di Gong Factory Bogor, salah satu SMP di Kota Bogor, dan SMP di Kota Bandung. Metode kualitatif digunakan melalui desain etnografi, melibatkan guru matematika, siswa, ahli kurikulum, dan para pelaku di bidang seni dan pembuatan gamelan Sunda. Metode pengumpulan data mencakup Focus Group Discussion (FGD), observasi, wawancara, analisis dokumen, dan tinjauan literatur. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa integrasi etnomatematika dalam pembelajaran matematika di SMP dilakukan dengan memasukkan unsur budaya lokal dalam kurikulum dan menggunakan contoh yang relevan secara budaya dalam bahan pengajaran. Pendekatan ini meningkatkan keterlibatan siswa dan pemahaman terhadap konsep-konsep matematika. Namun, beberapa tantangan diidentifikasi, termasuk keterbatasan ketersediaan sumber daya pengajaran yang disesuaikan secara budaya, kebutuhan pelatihan guru yang intensif, dan masalah logistik dalam berkolaborasi dengan ahli budaya. Meskipun demikian, manfaatnya termasuk peningkatan motivasi siswa dan pemahaman yang lebih dalam terhadap relevansi budaya matematika. Untuk mengatasi tantangan ini, diperlukan pengembangan bahan pengajaran khusus, program pelatihan guru komprehensif, dan kolaborasi yang kuat antara pendidik dan ahli budaya. The purpose of this research is to explore the ethnomathematics aspects of Sundanese gamelan and its integration in junior high school mathematics learning, focusing on proportions and geometry. This study employs ethnographic methods to gather qualitative data. The research was conducted at Gong Factory Bogor, a junior high school in Bogor City, and a junior high school in Bandung City. Qualitative methods were used through ethnographic design, involving mathematics teachers, students, curriculum experts, and actors in the field of art and Sundanese gamelan making. Data collection methods included Focus Group Discussions (FGD), observation, interviews, document analysis, and literature review. The findings reveal that integrating ethnomathematics in junior high school mathematics learning enhances student engagement and understanding of mathematical concepts through culturally relevant examples and local cultural elements in the curriculum. However, challenges such as limited availability of culturally tailored teaching resources, the need for extensive teacher training, and logistical issues in collaborating with cultural experts were identified. Despite these challenges, benefits included increased student motivation and a deeper appreciation for the cultural relevance of mathematics. Addressing these issues requires the development of specialized teaching materials, comprehensive teacher training programs, and strong collaboration between educators and cultural experts.
