Abstract
This research was motivated by the lack of availability and need for picture story books with mathematical material. It is hoped that the use of picture story books that contain mathematical concepts can be a solution to this problem. This research aims to develop children's reading books that integrate mathematical material, especially the area of flat shapes, using the Educational Design Research (EDR) methodology. The development process is carried out through three main stages: 1) Analysis and Exploration, 2) Design and Construction, and 3) Evaluation and Reflection. Data collection techniques used include observation, interviews, student interest questionnaires, and expert judgment as well as student and teacher response questionnaires. The results of the questionnaire showed that 95% of students liked picture story books. Based on this data, picture story books are designed to meet mathematics learning needs. Evaluation of the book by validators shows very good quality with a rating of 92% for material, 93% for illustrations, 96% for language, and 99% for book media. The student response test in cycle I showed a percentage of 94% with the criteria "Very Eligible", which increased to 97% in cycle II. The response from teachers was also very positive with a percentage of 100%. It is hoped that this book will be an effective and enjoyable learning tool, supporting students' understanding of the broad material of flat shapes in an innovative way.
