Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya keterampilan pengambilan keputusan siswa di jenjang sekolah dasar berdasarkan temuan dan hasil kajian penelitian terdahulu. Rendahnya keterampilan ini berdampak pada penyimpangan perilaku siswa. Referensi penelitian terkait keterampilan ini khususnya di sekolah dasar masih sangat jarang ditemui. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan teknik mind mapping terhadap peningkatan keterampilan pengambilan keputusan siswa melalui pembelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain the matching–only pretest-posttest control group. Sampel penelitian melibatkan sebanyak 80 siswa kelas V. Keterampilan pengambilan keputusan siswa diukur dengan menggunakan instrumen tes yang dikembangkan berdasarkan indikator menurut Banks. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya perbedaan peningkatan yang cukup signifikan pada keterampilan pengambilan keputusan antara siswa di kelas eksperimen yang menerapkan teknik pembelajaran mind mapping dengan siswa di kelas kontrol yang menerapkan teknik pembelajaran concept mapping. Diperoleh hasil pengolahan data pretest kelas eksperimen yang menggunakan teknik mind mapping dengan skor 60,50 kemudian mengalami kenaikan pada skor posttest menjadi 87,62 serta N-Gain sebesar 0,67. Pada kelas kontrol diperoleh skor pretest siswa yang menggunakan concept mapping yaitu 65,18 lalu naik pada skor posttest sebesar 78,56 serta N-Gain sebesar 0,35. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa keterampilan pengambilan keputusan siswa kelas V sekolah dasar dapat meningkat lebih baik dengan menggunakan teknik pembelajaran mind mapping pada mata pelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial. Melalui penelitian ini diharapkan para pemangku kebijakan, guru maupun calon guru, dan peneliti selanjutnya memberikan perhatian khusus terhadap pengembangan keterampilan pengambilan keputusan siswa yang memiliki peran penting dalam pendidikan. This research is motivated by the low decision-making skills of students at the elementary school level based on the findings and results of previous research studies. The low level of these skills has an impact on student behavior deviations. Research references related to these skills, especially in elementary schools, are still very rare. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of applying mind mapping techniques on improving students' decision-making skills through learning Social Sciences. The research method used was quasi-experimental with a matched–only pretest-posttest control group design. The research sample involved 80 fifth grade students. Students' decision-making skills were measured using a test instrument developed based on indicators according to Banks. The results of the research showed that there was a significant difference in improvement in decision-making skills between students in the experimental class who applied mind mapping learning techniques and students in the control class who applied concept mapping learning techniques. The results of the experimental class pretest data processing using mind mapping techniques were obtained with a score of 60.50, then there was an increase in the posttest score to 87.62 and the N-Gain was 0.67. In the control class, the pretest score obtained by students using concept mapping was 65.18, then the posttest score increased to 78.56 and the N-Gain was 0.35. It can be concluded that the decision-making skills of fifth grade elementary school students can improve better by using mind mapping learning techniques in Social Sciences subjects. Through this research, it is hoped that policy makers, teachers and prospective teachers, and future researchers will pay special attention to the development of these decision making skills which have an important role in education.
