Abstract
National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) menyatakan bahwa satu dari lima kemampuan proses dasar matematis yang perlu dikuasai oleh siswa melalui pembelajaran matematika, yaitu kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis dengan penggunaan pendekatan matematika realistik (PMR) berbantuan video animasi pembelajaran. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada siswa kelas VIII di salah satu SMP Negeri di Bandung, Jawa Barat. Dalam penelitian ini digunakan metode quasi experimental tipe pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design yaitu suatu rancangan eksperimen yang dilakukan dengan dua kelompok berbeda yaitu kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol.Hasil pengolahan data menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa setelah diberikan perlakuan di kelas eksperimen, dimana siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran dengan PMR berbantuan video animasi mengalami peningkatan yang lebih tinggi secara signifikan dibandingkan dengan siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran dengan PMR saja. Peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah kelas eksperimen berdasarkan nilai N-gain yang diperoleh adalah 0,60 dan termasuk kategori sedang/cukup efektif. Hasil pencapaian kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi secara signifikan dari siswa kelas kontrol, dengan rata-rata nilai posttest siswa kelas eksperimen sebesar 74,04 sedangkan rata-rata nilai posttest siswa kelas kontrol sebesar 54,93. Berdasarkan kategori peningkatan tinggi, sedang maupun rendah peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa dengan PMR berbantuan video animasi lebih tinggi secara signifikan daripada siswa dengan PMR saja. Kemudian, rata-rata persentase aktivitas guru 97,55% dan siswa 96,88% dalam pembelajaran matematika dengan PMR berbantuan video animasi pembelajaran dan keduanya termasuk kategori sangat baik. Oleh karena itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran menggunakan PMR berbantuan video animasi dapat diterapkan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa pada materi bangun ruang sisi datar. This study aims to identify the improvement in mathematical problem-solving abilities using the realistic mathematics education (RME) approach assisted by instructional animation videos. This research was conducted on eighth-grade students at a public junior high school in Bandung, West Java. The study employed a quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design, involving two different groups: an experimental group and a control group. The data analysis results indicate that there is an improvement in students' mathematical problem-solving abilities after being subjected to treatment in the experimental class, where students who were taught using RME assisted by animation videos showed a significantly higher improvement compared to those who were taught using RME alone. The improvement in problem-solving abilities in the experimental class, based on the N-gain value, was 0.60, categorized as moderate/fairly effective. The achievement in problem-solving abilities of the experimental group students was significantly higher than that of the control group students, with the average post-test score of the experimental group being 74.04, while the average post-test score of the control group was 54.93. Based on the high, medium, and low improvement categories, the increase in problem-solving abilities of students taught using RME assisted by animation videos was significantly higher than those taught using RME alone. Furthermore, the average percentage of teacher activity was 97.55% and student activity was 96.88% in mathematics learning with RME assisted by instructional animation videos, both categorized as very good. Therefore, it can be concluded that learning using RME assisted by instructional animation videos can be implemented to enhance students' mathematical problem-solving abilities in the topic of flat-sided space shapes.
