Abstract
Cianjur Regency is one of the areas located in an earthquake-prone zone in Indonesia. Education is a means to educate a generation of the nation who understand disaster literacy well. In addition, students need the power of thought to answer problems from earthquake disasters that often occur in Cianjur, find solutions and resolve problems related to earthquake mitigation efforts. The Case Method learning model can improve Disaster Literacy and Critical Thinking skills. This study aims to determine the effect of implementing the Case Method model to improve disaster literacy and critical thinking skills of students at SMA Negeri 2 Cianjur Regency. The sample in this study was class XI-Geography 1 and XI Geography 2, each consisting of 20 people. This study is a quantitative study using a quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent control group design. The results of the study showed that there were 1) Differences in disaster literacy skills of students in the experimental class with an average N-Gain of 0.71 (high); 2) Differences in disaster literacy skills of students in the control class with an average N-Gain of 0.32 (moderate); 3) Differences in critical thinking skills of students in the experimental class with an average N-Gain of 0.63 (moderate); 4) Differences in critical thinking skills of students in the control class with an average N-Gain of 0.42 (moderate); 5) Significant differences between disaster literacy skills in the experimental class and the control class; 6) Significant differences in critical thinking skills of students in the control class; 7) The influence of 57% of the Case Method model on disaster literacy skills with a correlation value of 0.755 (strong) and there is an influence of 46.8% of the Case Method model on critical thinking skills with a correlation value of 0.684 (strong); 8) The influence of 30.5% of the Discussion model on disaster literacy skills with a correlation value of 0.552 (moderate) and there is an influence of 39.7% of the Discussion model on critical thinking skills with a correlation value of 0.630 (strong). The conclusion of the study is that there is a significant influence between the Case Method learning model and disaster literacy and critical thinking skills. However, the learning process results in a lack of learning hours so that sufficient time allocation is needed to implement the Case Method model.
