Abstract

This study aims to determine the achievement of van Hiele's level of geometry thinking of junior high school students in grade VIII; describe students' mathematical literacy skills at the previsualization level, visualization level, analysis level, and informal deduction level. The approach used in this research is a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data collection techniques are in the form of van hiele geometry thinking level test (VHGT) and HOTS question test with quadrilateral flat material, as well as non-test techniques in the form of interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data validity test using triangulation technique. The results of the research obtained include: (1) Achievement level thinking geometry class VIII students show that students can reach the level of informal deduction and dominant students reach the level of informal deduction. (2) Previsualization level students have not been able to solve C4 and C6 problems with indicators of mathematical literacy skills and have not been able to solve C5 problems with indicators of perfect mathematical literacy skills. Previsualization students do not yet have good mathematical literacy skills (3) Visualization level students are able to solve C4 and C5 problems with rudimentary mathematical literacy indicators, and are not able to solve C6 problems with mathematical literacy indicators. and not yet able to solve C6 problems with indicators of mathematical literacy skills. Analysis level students have poor mathematical literacy skills; (4) Analysis level students are able to solve C5 problems by fulfilling all indicators of mathematical literacy skills, have not been able to solve C4 problems with perfect indicators of mathematical literacy skills, and have not been able to solve C6 problems with indicators of mathematical literacy skills. mathematical literacy ability indicators. Analysis level students have poor mathematical literacy skills; (5) Informal deduction level students can solve problem C6 by fulfilling all indicators of mathematical literacy ability and have not been able to solve problem C6 with indicators of mathematical literacy ability. and not yet able to solve C4 and C5 problems with perfect mathematical literacy ability indicators. Informal deduction level students have poor mathematical literacy skills.
