    Abstract

    Kemampuan spasial adalah kemampuan individu dalam memvisualisasikan, merotasikan, dan mentransformasikan suatu objek geometri ruang. Meskipun kemampuan ini berperan penting dalam pembelajaran geometri, fakta di lapangan mengungkapkan bahwa kemampuan spasial siswa masih tergolong rendah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan mendeskripsikan kemampuan spasial siswa SMA ditinjau dari Teori Harel. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif yang menggunakan pendekatan fenomenologi hermeneutik. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik triangulasi yang terdiri atas tes, wawancara, dan observasi. Penelitian ini melibatkan sebanyak 30 orang siswa SMA kelas 10. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengalaman siswa saat menyelesaikan masalah terkait kemampuan spasial tergolong belum memadai. Kemampuan spasial alami siswa masih tergolong rendah. Kemampuan spasial siswa saat menyelesaikan masalah terkait materi bangun ruang sisi datar masih tergolong belum memadai. Hal ini menyebabkan sebagian siswa mengalami kendala. Mental acts yang muncul pada saat siswa menyelesaikan masalah terkait kemampuan spasial di antaranya menafsirkan, mencari, menduga, mengimajinasikan, menjelaskan dan menerapkan. Ways of thinking siswa seperti beliefs about mathematics cenderung terbatas pada penggunaan rumus dan perhitungan. Problem-solving approaches yang digunakan siswa bervariasi, tetapi sebagian besar mengimajinasikan proses rotasi pada bangun ruang. Siswa cenderung menggunakan empirical proof schemes dengan persepsi visual sebagai metode utama. Temuan juga menunjukkan adanya keragaman ways of understanding walaupun mental acts yang dilakukan cenderung sama.

    Spatial ability is an individual's ability to visualize, rotate, and transform a space geometry object. Although this ability is important in learning geometry, facts in the field reveal that students' spatial abilities are still relatively low. This study aims to analyze and describe the spatial abilities of high school students in terms of Harel Theory. This research is a qualitative study that uses a hermeneutic phenomenological approach. Data collection was carried out using triangulation techniques consisting of tests, interviews, and observations. This study involved 30 10th-grade high school students. The results showed that students' experiences when solving problems related to spatial abilities were inadequate. Students' natural spatial abilities are still relatively low. Students' spatial abilities when solving polyhedron problems are still relatively inefficient. This causes some students to experience problems. Mental acts that arise when students solve problems related to spatial abilities include interpreting, searching, guessing, imagining, explaining, and applying. Students' ways of thinking such as beliefs about mathematics tend to be limited to the use of formulas and calculations. Problem-solving approaches used by students vary, but most of them imagine the process of rotation in space. Students use empirical proof schemes with visual perception as the main method. The findings also show the diversity of ways of understanding although the mental acts performed tend to be the same.
