Abstract

Kesulitan belajar merupakan salah satu permasalahan yang sering dihadapi siswa. Salah satu faktor penyebab yang paling kuat adalah stres yang dialami siswa. Inquiry Based Stress Reduction (IBSR) merupakan salah satu treatment psikologi untuk menurunkan stres. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan motivasi belajar dan kontruksi pengetahuan serta menurunkan kesulitan belajar dan kecemasan kognitif siswa dengan mengintegrasikan IBSR ke dalam strategi pembelajaran Biologi di kelas. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian quasi eksperimental menggunakan post-test nonequivalent control group design. Penelitian melibatkan 72 siswa kelas 11 IPA yang berasal dari dua kelas berbeda pada salah satu SMA Negeri Kota Bandung. Kelas pertama merupakan kelas yang mendapatkan perlakuan IBSR terdiri atas 36 siswa dan kelas kedua tidak mendapatkan perlakuan IBSR terdiri atas 36 siswa. Pembelajaran pada kedua kelas dilakukan menggunakan kerangka pembelajaran discovery learning. Data motivasi, kesulitan belajar dan kecemasan kognitif dikumpulkan menggunakan questioner rating scale dengan 8 skala, sedangkan kemampuan siswa dalam mengontruksi pengetahuan diukur menggunakan intrumen German Cognitive Load (GCL) berupa tes tulis dengan indikator diambil dari taksonomi kognitif Mayer (2002) pada ranah pemahaman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa reduksi terhadap stres yang dialami siswa menggunakan teknik IBSR yang diintegrasikan dalam strategi pembelajaran pada materi sistem kekebalan tubuh, dapat memperbaiki performa belajar siswa sehingga meningkatkan motivasi dan konstruksi pengetahuan siswa (GCL) serta menurunkan kesulitan belajar dan kecemasan kognitif siswa. Learning difficulties are one of the problems that students often face. One of the strongest contributing factors is the stress experienced by students. Inquiry Based Stress Reduction (IBSR) is one of the psychological treatments to reduce stress. This study aims to increase learning motivation and knowledge construction as well as reduce learning difficulties and cognitive anxiety of students by integrating IBSR into Biology learning strategies in the classroom. This research is a quasi-experimental research using post-test nonequivalent control group design. The study involved 72 11th grade science students who came from two different classes at one of the Bandung City Public High Schools. The first class was a class that received IBSR treatment consisting of 36 students and the second class did not receive IBSR treatment consisting of 36 students. Learning in both classes was conducted using a discovery learning framework. Data on motivation, learning difficulties and cognitive anxiety were collected using a rating scale questioner with 8 scales, while students' ability to construct knowledge was measured using the German Cognitive Load (GCL) instrument in the form of a written test with indicators taken from Mayer's cognitive taxonomy (2002) in the realm of understanding. The results showed that the reduction of stress experienced by students using IBSR techniques integrated in learning strategies on the material of the immune system, can improve student learning performance so as to increase student motivation and knowledge construction (GCL) and reduce learning difficulties and cognitive anxiety of students.
