Abstract
Materi pembelajaran IPA di Sekolah Dasar berorientasi pada pemahaman teori – teori pasti. Hal inilah yang menyebabkan pemahaman konsep harus dimiliki oleh setiap siswa Sekolah Dasar. Namun, pada praktiknya masih terdapat banyak siswa yang belum mampu memahami konsep dalam mata pelajaran IPA khususnya dalam materi cahaya dan sifatnya. Hal ini terjadi karena proses pembelajaran monoton tanpa adanya penggunaan model dan media pembelajaran yang interaktif. Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut, penelitian ini menggunakan Model Cooperative Learning Tipe Team Game Tournament (TGT) berbantuan media Crossword Puzzle sebagai treatment. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain penelitian Pre-test and Post-test with Non-Equivalent Control-Group Design. Sampel penelitian yang digunakan yaitu siswa kelas IV SDN Wantilan sebanyak dua kelas yaitu kelas kontrol dan eksperimen berjumlah 26 siswa perkelas dengan total 52 siswa. Dari data hasil penelitian, diperoleh kenaikan signifikan nilai rata – rata pemahaman konsep IPA kelas eksperimen dari 33,85 menjadi 85, sementara kelas kontrol memiliki nilai 31,15 menjadi 71,15. Oleh karenanya, dapat disimpulkan Model Cooperative Learning Tipe Team Game Tournament (TGT) berbantuan media Crossword Puzzle berpengaruh secara positif terhadap pemahaman konsep IPA Siswa sekolah dasar. Pemahaman konsep IPA siswa yang melakukan pembelajaran Model Cooperative Learning Tipe Team Game Tournament (TGT) berbantuan media Crossword Puzzle lebih baik daripada siswa yang melakukan pembelajaran kolaboratif. ----- The learning material for science in elementary schools is oriented towards the understanding of definite theories. This necessitates that every elementary school student must grasp these concepts. However, in practice, it is found that many students still struggle to understand the concepts in science subjects, particularly in the topic of light and its characteristics. This issue arises from monotonous learning processes without the use of interactive models and media. To address this problem, this study employs the Cooperative Learning Model Type Team Game Tournament (TGT) assisted by Crossword Puzzle media as a treatment. The type of research used is a quasi-experiment with a Pre-test and Post-test with Non-Equivalent Control-Group Design. The research sample consists of two fourth-grade classes from SDN Wantilan, totaling 52 students, with 26 students in both the control and experimental classes. The research data showed a significant increase in the average score of science concept understanding in the experimental class from 33.85 to 85, while the control class's score increased from 31.15 to 71.15. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Cooperative Learning Model Type Team Game Tournament (TGT) assisted by Crossword Puzzle media positively influences the understanding of science concepts in elementary school students. The understanding of science concepts in students who learned through the Cooperative Learning Model Type Team Game Tournament (TGT) assisted by Crossword Puzzle media was better than that of students who underwent conventional learning.
