Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya deteksi dini aspek perkembangan bahasa. Selain itu, masih terbatasnya instrumen asesmen untuk mengetahui hambatan perkembangan pada anak, terutama instrumen asesmen untuk mengetahui hambatan perkembangan bahasa pada anak usia dini. Vygotsky berpendapat bahwa pada masa anak-anak awal (early childhood), bahasa mulai digunakan sebagai alat yang membantu anak untuk merancang aktivitas dan memecahkan masalah (Santrock, 2007). Usia dini usia 2-3 tahun merupakan masa keemasan ( golden age) di mana stimulasi seluruh aspek perkembangan berperan penting untuk perkembangan anak. Pada usia 2 – 3 tahun, pertumbuhan otak sedang mengalami perkembangan yang sangat pesat. Mengingat pentingnya masa golden age, peran stimulasi berupa penyediaan lingkungan yang kondusif harus disiapkan oleh para pendidik, baik orang tua, guru, pengasuh ataupun orang dewasa lain yang ada disekitar anak, sehingga anak memiliki kesempatan untuk mengembangkan seluruh potensinya. Salah satu potensi yang sangat berpengaruh dalam perkembangan kognitif dan psikis anak adalah bahasa. Apabila anak mengalami hambatan atau keterlambatan berbahasa, maka akan berpengaruh pada psikologis dan perkembangan kognitif anak. Dengan mixed methods research design, penelitian ini berusaha mengembangkan istrumen asesmen hambatan perkembangan bahasa untuk mengetahui hambatan perkembangan bahasa pada anak usia dini berdasarkan teori yang dikemukakan oleh Vygotsky. Konstruk instrumen asesmen tersebut dikembangkan berdasarkan data kualitatif hasil study literatur terhadap teori perkembangan bahasa anak usia dini yang dikemukakan oleh Vygotsky dan kajian-kajian tentang perkembangan bahasa anak usia yang mendukung teori Vygotsky. Instrumen asesmen hambatan perkembangan bahasa ini divalidasi dengan expert judgment dan diujicobakan pada 37 murid PAUD di 4 PAUD di kota Bandung. Uji coba instrumen asesmen hambatan perkembangan bahasa dianalisis reliabilitas dan analisis item pertanyaan /butir soal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa instrumen asesmen hambatan perkembangan bahasa sudah valid dan reliabel sehingga dapat digunakan untuk mengetahui hambatan perkembangan bahasa pada anak usia dini. Also, the limited assessment instruments for finding out the difficulty in children’s development, particularly the instrument to find out the difficulty in language acquisition for preschool children. Vygotsky argued that in the early childhood, language begins to be used as the instrument for helping the children to design activities and solve the problems (Santrock, 2007). The early childhood, about 2-3 years old, is called as golden age in which the stimulations of development aspects take important role in children development. At this period, the brain is developed rapidly. Considering how golden age is very important, the stimulations such as conducive atmosphere must be prepared by the educators, either by parents, teachers, nursemaids or any adult around the children, so that the children get chances for developing the owned potencies. One of the most influenced potencies in children’s cognitive and phychological development is language. However, if the children get difficulty or delaying in mastering the language, then the psychological and cognitive development will be affected too. The research applied mixed method design and was aimed to develop the assessment instrument for language acquisition difficulty to find out the difficulty of preschool children language acquisition according to Vygotsky’s theory. The instrument was developed referring to the qualitative data obtained from the literary study to the theory revealed by Vygotsky and other relevant theories about children’s language acquisition. This assessment instrument of language acquisition difficulty was validated by the expert judgment and also tried out to 37 students of Preschool in 4 Preschools in Bandung. The trial of the assessment instrument for language acquisition difficulty was analyzed its reliability and questions. The result showed that the assessment instrument for language acquisition difficulty was valid and reliable so that it can be applied to find out the difficulty in language acquisition for preschool children.
