Abstract

When children are in elementary school, teachers play a role in developing students' abilities, which are not only abilities in academic aspects, but also abilities in interpersonal intelligence. This study focuses on identifying the improvement of interpersonal intelligence of fourth grade students at SDN Kayu Putih 03 Jakarta by giving one class a cooperative learning model of Numbered Head Together type and comparing the results with other classes given learning with conventional lecture models. This study aims to emphasize the importance of the effect of learning treatment in improving the interpersonal intelligence of individuals while at the elementary school level. This study was also conducted with the aim of proving the statement that intelligence is the result of the habituation process in learning, behavior, and interaction with the environment. This study used a pseudo-experimental method with a nonequivalent group control design. The subjects used were IV A and IV B grade students with a total sample of 56 students then divided into experimental and control classes with the same number of students. The instruments of this study were pretest and posttest questionnaires related to students' interpersonal behavior, as well as observation sheets of teacher and student activities during learning. The data were processed by quantitative descriptive analysis and statistical analysis using SPSS Version 25.0 software. The results of the non-parametric t-test research using Wilcoxon found that there was an effect of using the NHT type cooperative model on students' interpersonal intelligence with the test result of the Asymp Sig value. (2-tailed) of 0.000, characterized by an increase in the average difference between the posttest data and the pretest is greater than the control class. The results of the analysis on the mann-whitney test found that there was a difference in the average results of the data on the level of interpersonal intelligence of students in the experimental class and the control class with an Asymp Sig value. (2-tailed) of 0.058, which means that there is a positive effect of using the NHT type cooperative learning model. Because in conventional learning, students do not receive the same stimulus on collaborative aspects, interaction between students, and their self-confidence.
