Abstract
This research aims to describe the differences in improving mathematical reasoning abilities and achieving self-confidence among students who use problem-based learning and student-centered models and to find out whether there is an interaction between the application of learning models and students' level of self-confidence towards improving mathematical reasoning. The research method used is quasi-experimental with the research design being Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The population in the study were all class X high school students in one of the state high schools in Bandung City for the 2023/2024 academic year. Sample selection was carried out randomly in the population class so that we obtained an experimental group or KE that was given learning treatment using the problem-based learning model and a control group or KK that was given learning treatment using the teacher-centered model. The results of the research show that there is a difference in the increase in mathematical reasoning abilities of students who receive learning using the problem-based learning model compared to teacher-centered learning. The average increase in mathematical reasoning abilities of students in the KE group was significantly better than the average increase in students in the KK group. Meanwhile, the achievement of self-confidence for KE group students is no better than the self-confidence of KK group students.
