Abstract

Kemampuan komunikasi siswa masih rendah dan guru belum memiliki instrument penilaian kemampuan komunikasi, untuk itu kemampuan komunikasi penting untuk dikembangkan di era globalisasi pada abad 21 ini. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu: 1) Untuk mengetahui proses pengembangan instrumen kemampuan komunikasi, 2) Untuk mengetahui kelayakan instrumen penilaian kemampuan komunikasi, 3) Untuk mengetahui potret kemampuan komunikasi pembelajaran IPS siswa kelas VI SD. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Design and Development (DnD) dengan model pengembangan menurut Djemari Mardapi. Teknik analisi data yang digunakan pada penelitian ini menurut Miles & Huberman yang meliputi pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan/verifikasi. Teknik dan instrumen pengumpulan data, yaitu observasi, wawancara, instrumen tes dan non tes. Instrumen yang dikembangkan berupa instrumen tes (penilaian kemampuan komunikasi verbal tulisan) berbentuk uraian yang terdiri dari kisi-kisi, soal tes, dan rubrik penskoran. Instrumen non tes (rubrik penilaian kemampuan komunikasi verbal lisan dan nonverbal) yang terdiri dari kisi-kisi dan rubrik penilaian. Proses pengembangan instrumen penilaian kemampuan komunikasi memiliki 10 tahapan yang dimulai dari tahap pertama menentukan spesifikasi instrumen hingga tahap akhir yaitu menafsirkan hasil pengukuran. Instumen penilaian yang telah dikembangkan divalidasi oleh 3 ahli. Instrumen tersebut juga diuji coba keterbacaan oleh 5 siswa. Untuk uji kelayakan, dilakukan uji validitas Aikens’V yang mendapatkan hasil valid tinggi untuk instrumen tes dan non tes sebesar V 0,92, sedangkan uji reliabilitas menggunakan rumus Alpha Cronbach mendapatkan hasil 0,923 (instrumen tes komunikasi tulisan), 0,942 (instrumen non tes komunikasi lisan) dan 0,862 (instrumen non tes komunikasi nonverbal) dengan kategori sangat reliabel. Berdasarkan hasil pengukuran diperoleh hasil bahwa diantara kemampuan komunikasi dalam penelitian ini, kemampuan komunikasi verbal tulisan siswa tergolong komunikatif dengan hasil rata rata sebesar 26,26 sedangkan kemampuan komunikasi verbal lisan dan kemampuan komunikasi nonverbal masih tergolong kurang komunikatif dengan hasil rata-rata sebesar 9,8 dan 8,3. Students' communication skills are important to develop in the era of globalization in the 21st century. The aims of this research are: 1) To find out the process of developing a communication skills instrument, 2) To find out the feasibility of a communication skills assessment instrument, 3) To find out a portrait of the social studies learning communication skills of class VI elementary school students. This research uses the method Design and Development (DnD) with a development model according to Djemari Mardapi. According to Miles & Huberman, the data analysis technique used in this research includes data collection, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions/verification. Data collection techniques and instruments, namely observation, interviews, test and non-test instruments. The instrument developed is a test instrument (assessment of written verbal communication skills) in the form of a description consisting of a grid, test questions and scoring rubric. Non-test instruments (rubric for assessing verbal and non-verbal communication skills) consisting of grids and assessment rubrics. The process of developing a communication skills assessment instrument has 10 stages starting from the first stage of determining the instrument specifications to the final stage, namely interpreting the measurement results. The assessment instruments that have been developed were validated by 3 experts. The instrument was also tested for readability by 5 students. For the feasibility test, the Aikens'V validity test was carried out which obtained high valid results for test and non-test instruments of V 0.92, while the reliability test used the formula Alpha Cronbach obtained results of 0.923 (written communication test instrument), 0.942 (oral communication non-test instrument) and 0.862 (non-verbal communication non-test instrument) in the very reliable category. Based on the measurement results, it was found that among the communication skills in this study, students' written verbal communication skills were classified as communicative with an average result of 26.26, while oral verbal communication skills and nonverbal communication skills were still classified as less communicative with an average result of 9.8 and 8.3.
