Abstract

Sebelumnya kondisi vitalitas Bandung Zoo kurang baik, pemeliharaan pada kandang satwa dan fasilitas wisata kurang terjaga sehingga berdampak kepada kesejahteraan hewan dan kenyamanan wisatawan saat berkunjung. Bandung Zoo sempat menjadi sorotan media dan masyarakat Indonesia, maka dari itu salah satu langkah yang dilakukan oleh pengelola Bandung Zoo untuk mengembalikan vitalitas kebun binatang adalah melalui upaya revitalisasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui upaya dan hasil dari revitalisasi yang dilakukan oleh pengelola Bandung Zoo dalam mewujudkan wisata edukasi berkelanjutan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus, partisipan pada penelitian ini terdiri dari pengelola Bandung Zoo dan pengunjung Bandung Zoo. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui kegiatan wawancara semi terstruktur, observasi, dan studi data sekunder. Analisis data dilakukan dengan melakukan reduksi data melalui pengkodean terbuka, selanjutnya penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa revitalisasi yang dilakukan oleh pengelola Bandung Zoo masih berfokus kepada revitalisasi fisik, yaitu melalui revitalisasi pada kandang satwa, atraksi wisata, dan fasilitas wisata. Konsep yang dikembangkan pada kebun binatang yaitu dengan membangun kandang tanpa besi penghalang (kandang naturalistik) dan perubahan pada sistem perkandangan yaitu dengan menggunakan sistem elektrik. Pengalaman pembelajaran yang didapatkan oleh pengunjung hanya berdampak kepada pengetahuan pengunjung sehingga perlu adanya evaluasi lebih lanjut dengan mempertimbangkan dampak pengetahuan, sikap, emosi, dan perilaku pengunjung. Previously, the vitality of the Bandung Zoo was not good, the maintenance of animal cages and tourist facilities was not well maintained, which had an impact on animal welfare and the convenience of tourists when visiting. The Bandung Zoo was once in the spotlight of the Indonesian media and society, therefore one of the steps taken by the Bandung Zoo management to restore the vitality of the zoo is through revitalization efforts. This study aims to determine the efforts and results of the revitalization carried out by the Bandung Zoo management in realizing sustainable educational tourism. This study used a qualitative method with a case study approach. The participants in this study consisted of Bandung Zoo staff management and visitors to the Bandung Zoo. Data collection techniques were carried out through semi-structured interviews, observation, and secondary data studies. Data analysis was performed by reducing data through open coding, then presenting data, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate that the revitalization carried out by the management of the Bandung Zoo is still focused on physical revitalization, namely through revitalization of animal enclosures, tourist attractions and tourist facilities. The concept developed at the zoo is to build a cage without barriers (naturalistic cages) and changes to the fighting system, namely by using an electric system. The learning experience gained by visitors only has an impact on visitor knowledge so that further evaluation is needed by considering the impact of visitor knowledge, attitudes, emotions and behavior.
