Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas mengenai isu gender dalam praktik profesi arsitek, khususnya dalam proses sertifikasi profesi arsitek berdasarkan pengalaman-pengalaman arsitek laki-laki dan perempuan selama berkarir sebagai seorang arsitek. Tujuan dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui isu gender dalam profesi arsitek berdasarkan persepsi serta pengalaman-pengalaman arsitek laki-laki dan arsitek perempuan selama berkarir menjadi seorang arsitek khususnya dalam pelaksanaan sertifikasi profesi. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah metode desktriptif kualitatif dengan melibatkan analisis dokumen, wawancara, dan survei terhadap arsitek yang telah tersertifikasi terkait sertifikasi profesi. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis dengan pendekatan metode kualitatif deskriptif serta teori yang relevan terkait isu gender dalam sertifikasi profesi arsitek. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada arsitek laki-laki tidak ada hambatan selama berkarir sebagai seorang arsitek terutama dalam proses sertifikasi profesi. Pada arsitek perempuan ditemukan hambatan sulitnya membagi waktu antara keluarga dan karir terutama ketika proses sertifikasi profesi, kepercayaan diri perempuan yang bekerja pada profesi arsitek, serta kenyamanan bekerja di dunia maskulin sehingga menghambat kinerja dalam profesi.

This study discusses gender issues in the practice of the architect profession, especially in the process of certifying the architect profession based on the experiences of male and female architects during their careers as an architect. The purpose of this study is to determine gender issues in the architect profession based on the perceptions and experiences of male architects and female architects during their careers as an architect, especially in the implementation of professional certification. The method used in the research is a qualitative descriptive method involving document analysis, interviews, and surveys of architects who have been certified related to professional certification. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative methods and relevant theories related to gender issues in architect professional certification. The results showed that in male architects there are no obstacles during a career as an architect, especially in the process of professional certification. In female architects, there are obstacles to the difficulty of dividing time between family and career, especially during the professional certification process, the confidence of women who work in the architect profession, and the comfort of working in the masculine world, thus hampering performance in the profession.
