Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh kecemasan sosial dan regulasi emosi terhadap problematic internet use pada emerging adulthood di Kota Bandung. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kuantitatif dengan desain kolerasional. Sampel penelitian ini terdiri dari 425 orang pengguna media sosial yang berada pada masa emerging adulthood. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah Social anxiety scale for adolescence (SAS-A) yang disusun oleh La Greca & Lopez (1998) (Sutiyo, 2019), Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ) yang disusun oleh Gross & John, (2003) (Paramitha, 2014), dan Generalized Problematic Internet Use Scale 2 (GPIUS 2) (Caplan, 2010) yang dimodifikasi oleh peneliti. Data dalam penelitian ini dianalisis menggunakan analisis regresi linear sederhana dan regresi linear berganda menggunakan software SPSS 25 for windows. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa: (1) terdapat pengaruh positif yang signifikan antara kecemasan sosial terhadap problematic internet use (38,7%); (2) terdapat pengaruh positif yang signifikan antara regulasi emosi terhadap problematic internet use (1,6%); (3) terdapat pengaruh kecemasan sosial dan regulasi emosi terhadap problematic internet use (38,8%). Dapat disimpulkan bahwa kecemasan sosial dan regulasi emosi secara simultan memiliki pengaruh terhadap problematic internet use pada emerging adulthood di Kota Bandung sebesar 38,8% dengan arah pengaruh positif dan negatif. The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of social anxiety and emotion regulation on problematic internet use in emerging adulthood in Bandung City. The method used in this research is quantitative methods with correlational design. The sample of this study consisted of 425 social media users who are emerging adulthood. The instruments used were the Social anxiety scale for adolescence (SAS-A) were designed by La Greca & Lopez (1998) (Sutiyo, 2019), Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ) were designed by Gross & John, (2003) (Paramitha, 2014), and Generalized Problematic Internet Use Scale 2 (GPIUS 2) (Caplan, 2010) were modified by the researcher. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression and multiple linear regression through SPSS 25 for windows software. The results of this research indicate that: (1) there is a significant positive effect of social anxiety on problematic internet use (38,7%); (2) there is a significant positive effect of regulation emotion on problematic internet use (1,6%); (3) there is an effect of social anxiety and emotion regulation on problematic internet use (38,8%). It can be concluded that social anxiety and emotion regulation simultaneously has influence on problematic internet use of emerging adulthood in Bandung City by 38,8% with positive and negative direction of influence.
