Abstract
SIMPLE SENTENCES IN A BOOK OF SHORT STORIES KANYAAH KOLOT BY KARNA YUDIBRATA (Structural and Semantic Analysis) Ilma Shahida Afifah ABSTRACT This study discus to find out, record, and analyze simple sentences, simple sentence structures, and the meaning of simple sentences in the short story collection Kanyaah Kolot by Karna Yudibrata. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques using literature study and data analysis using direct elemental analysis techniques. The research instrument uses a digital data card. Based on the research results, 94 simple single sentence data were collected. Judging from the sentence structure, there are ten simple single sentence patterns, namely: 1) Pattern 1: Subject + Predicate +Adverb,2)Pattern2:Adverb+Predicate+object3)Pattern3:Predicate+Subject+Explanation,4)Patter4:Predicate+Explanation+Subject,5)Pattern5:Explanation+Subject+Predicate,6)Pattern6:Subject+Predicate+Complement+Explanation,7)Pattern7:Subject+Predicate+Object+Complement+Explanation,9) Pattern 9: Subject + Predicate + Object + Description, Pattern 10: Description + Subject + Predicate + Complement. Seen from the meaning of simple single sentence which is based on the functional element of description, there are nine types, among them: 1) simple single sentence of place, 2) simple single sentence of time, 3) simple single sentence of way, 4) simple single sentence of comparison, 5) simple single sentence of purpose, 6) simple single sentence of last, 7) single sentence of modality, 8) simple single sentence of cause, 9) simple single sentence of sum.
