Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kurangnya pengetahuan masyarakat terhadap Tari Umbul yang merupakan kesenian asli dari Kabupaten Sumedang. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui sejarah dan perkembangan Tari Umbul, pertunjukan Tari Umbul, nilai estetika dalam Tari Umbul, hasil penelitian ini bisa digunakan untuk bahan pembelajaran di SMA kelas XII. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif, di antaranya telaah pustaka, wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian ini adalah untuk memaparkan: (1) sejarah Tari Umbul beserta peran dan fungsinya, (2) pertunjukan Tari Umbul baik sebelum, berlangsungnya pertunjukan Tari Umbul yang termasuk ke dalam wiraga, wirahma, wirasa dan wirupa dan setelah selesai tampilan Tari Umbul, (3) nilai estetika yang terkandung dalam Tari Umbul baik dalam nilai estetika murni dan nilai estetika ekstra estetis atau nilai penambah, (4) hasil dari penelitian bisa dijadikan bahan pembelajaran membaca artikel budaya di kelas XII SMA mengenai “nilai estetika dalam Tari Umbul di Kabupaten Sumedang”. This research is motivated by the lack of public knowledge of the Umbul Dance which is an original art from Sumedang Regency. The purpose of this study was to find out the history and development of the Umbul Dance, the performance of the Umbul Dance, the aesthetic value of the Umbul Dance, the results of the research were used as learning material in class XII high school. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method, including literature review, interviews, observation and documentation. The results of this study are to describe: (1) the history of the Umbul Dance and its roles and functions, (2) the performance of the Umbul Dance well before the performances which are included in wiraga, wirahma, wirasa and wirupa and according to the appearance of the Umbul Dance, (3) the value the aesthetics contained in the Umbul Dance both in pure aesthetic value and extra aesthetic aesthetic value or added value, (4) the results of the research can be used as learning material for reading cultural articles in class XII SMA regarding "aesthetic value in the Umbul Dance in Sumedang Regency".
