Abstract

ABSTRAK Program Studi Pendidikan Teknologi Agroindustri memiliki Program Educational Objective (PEO) yang salah satunya bertujuan untuk mencetak lulusan dengan kemampuan literasi sains yang baik. Namun, hasil pra-survey menunjukkan sebagian besar mahasiswa angkatan 2019, 2020, dan 2021 yang sudah memasuki pertengahan masa perkuliahan masih jarang melakukan literasi sains dan merasa masih kesulitan dalam menerapkan indikator-indikator literasi sains. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui secara lebih mendalam mengenai kemampuan literasi sains mahasiswa program studi Pendidikan Teknologi Agroindustri menggunakan asesmen PISA yang mengukur literasi sains dari tiga perspektif aspek, yaitu aspek pengetahuan, konteks, dan kompetensi serta didukung dengan mata kuliah berbasis sains, yaitu mata kuliah Mikrobiologi Pangan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif dengan teknik pengambilan data melalui instrumen pilihan ganda beralasan terbuka sebanyak 21 soal. Pemilihan tipe pilihan ganda beralasan terbuka dimaksudkan untuk menilai kemampuan mahasiswa secara komprehensif. Setiap aspek PISA disebar secara merata ke dalam setiap soal yang memuat materi mikrobiologi pangan. Instrumen kemudian diujikan pada 48 sampel mahasiswa program studi yang mengontrak mata kuliah Mikrobiologi Pangan tahun ajaran 2022/2023. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan kemampuan literasi sains mahasiswa pada aspek pengetahuan, konteks, dan kompetensi mendapat kriteria “kurang”. Dilihat dari rata-rata nilai mahasiswa, secara keseluruhan persentase tertinggi literasi sains mahasiswa berada pada kriteria “kurang sekali”. However, the results of the pre-survey showed that most of the 2019, 2020 and 2021 class students who have entered the middle of their college term still rarely carry out scientific literacy and find the it difficult to apply scientific literacy indicators. Therefore, this study aims to find out in more depth about the scientific literacy abilities of students in the Agro-industrial Technology Education study program using the PISA assessment which measures scientific literacy from three aspect perspectives, namely aspects of knowledge, context, and competence and supported by science-based courses, namely Food Microbiology course. This study used a quantitative descriptive method with data collection techniques through an open-reasoned multiple-choice instrument of 21 questions. The choice of multiple-choice types with open reasons is intended to comprehensively assess student abilities. Every aspects of PISA distributed evenly into each question which contains food microbiology material. The instrument was then tested on 48 samples of study program students who contracted the Food Microbiology course for the 2022/2023 academic year. The results of the data analysis showed that students' scientific literacy abilities in the aspects of knowledge, context, and competence were classified as "poor". Judging from the average student score, overall the highest percentage of student scientific literacy is in the "very poor" criterion.
