Abstract
The title of the study is “Implementation of peer and self asssessment to assess the performance of senior high school students in practicing electrolyte and non-electrolyte solutions”. Performance assessment was done by a teacher in school. The limit of this thing is the difficulty in observing the performance of all students. The purpose of this study was to get information or description about the implementation of peer and self assessment, in order to reveal students’ performance in practicing electrolyte and non-electrolyte solution. The method of this study was descriptive. The subjects of the study were 21 X grade students of senior high school in Sukabumi. The instruments used in the study were peer and self assessment sheets, observation sheets, questionnaire, and interview guide. Based on the study before, the implementation was done in five steps, which were done well. They were motivating and training step (95,2%), executing practice by using peer and self assessment (87,7%), communicating the result (100%), feedback (89,3%) and utilizing the result (100%). Students’ performance could be revealed through peer and self assessment which were very good categorized, they were students’ performance in preparing things (87,2%), executing the practice (89,6%), and cleanliness after practicing (89,1%). Another result from data analyzing for peer and self assessment ability showed that 76,2% of students were very good categorized, meanwhile the rest (23,8%) were good categorized. Based on the result of study, it can be concluded that peer and self assessment can be implemented to assess high school students’ performance in practicing electrolyte and non-electrolyte solution. Keyword : peer and self assessment, students’ performance, electrolyte and non-electrolyte solution Judul penelitian ini adalah “Penerapan Peer dan Self assessment untuk Menilai Kinerja Siswa SMA dalam Praktikum Larutan Elektrolit dan Nonelektrolit”. Penilaian kinerja siswa biasanya dilakukan oleh seorang guru di suatu sekolah. Hal ini memiliki keterbatasan yaitu guru kesulitan untuk mengamati kinerja seluruh siswa, Tujuan dilakukannya penelitian ini yaitu untuk memperoleh informasi atau gambaran tentang penerapan peer dan self assessment untuk mengungkap kinerja siswa dalam praktikum larutan elektrolit dan nonelektrolit. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif. Subjek yang diteliti pada penelitian ini adalah siswa SMA kelas X di salah satu SMA di kota Sukabumi tahun ajaran 2011/2012 sebanyak 21 orang. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah lembar peer assessment, lembar self assessment, lembar observasi, angket dan pedoman wawancara. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian penerapan peer dan self assessment dilakukan dalam lima tahapan. Keterlaksanaan kriteria ideal pada semua tahapan terlaksana dengan sangat baik yaitu tahap pemotivasian serta pelatihan peer dan self assessment (95,2%), pelaksanaan praktikum menggunakan peer dan self assessment (87,7%), pengkomunikasian hasil (100%), feedback (89,3%), dan pemanfaatan hasil (100%). Kinerja siswa dapat terungkap melalui peer dan self assessment dengan kategori sangat baik yaitu kinerja siswa yang melakukan persiapan praktikum (87,2%), pelaksanaan praktikum (89,6%), dan kebersihan setelah praktikum (89,1%). Temuan lain dari hasil analisis data untuk kemampuan peer dan self assessment menunjukkan bahwa sebanyak (76.2%) siswa dikategorikan sangat baik melakukan peer dan self assessment, sedangkan sisanya (23,8%) siswa berada pada kategori baik. Berdasarkan hasil-hasil penelitian di atas dapat disimpulkan bahwa peer dan self assessment dapat diterapkan untuk menilai kinerja siswa SMA dalam praktikum larutan elektrolit dan nonelektrolit.
