Abstract

This research is motivated by the existence of facts that show various previous studies regarding the pattern of macroeconomic influences on stock prices in various countries. Therefore, it is important to conduct research in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines and Singapore regarding the effect of macroeconomics on stock prices. Then this study examines the moderating effect of per capita income on macroeconomic influences on stock prices. The objects in this study are macroeconomic factors (inflation, exchange rates, economic growth, interest rates, money supply, per capita income) and the IHSG in the dominant economic sector over GDP in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines and Singapore. Research subject, namely research boundaries where researchers can determine it with objects, things or people to attach research variables. In this study, the research subjects were macroeconomic data and dominant sector stock prices and the JCI. The data for this study uses a time series from 2000-2020, data processing tool using e-views 10. The results of the study found that only economic growth which was moderated by per capita income consistently had an effect on stock prices. Macroeconomic variables, such as inflation, exchange rates, book interest, and the money supply show different patterns in each country. This condition indicates that it is important for the government to be able to control the macroeconomy in providing investment certainty to investors, and for investors in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore it is better to invest in dominant sector stocks when macroeconomic and per capita income are in good condition. On this basis, it indicates that the significance of APT compatibility is more effective in dominant sector stocks than the Composite Stock Price Index shares.
