Abstract
Racial discrimination can still be found in various places to this day. This article investigates the phenomenon of discrimination that occurs in a film based on a true story entitled The Blind Side (2009) by John Lee Hancock. This study aims to identify how the racial discrimination portrayed in the movie. I use Pincus' theory of racial discrimination (1996) as the basis for compiling this study to reveal the existence of racial discrimination portrayed in the film. Dialogues and scenes are analysed using textual analysis. There are three types of racial discrimination (Institutional, Individual, and structural discrimination), but only two types of racial discrimination were found, namely Institutional and Individual Discrimination. This film helps to provide insight into how Black people experience racial discrimination perpetrated by an institution and the environment. Apart from that, this study also explores how racial discrimination against Black people can occur by exposing how racial discrimination is carried out by institutions experienced by Black People.
