Agustini Pamungkas, - (2023) PENGEMBANGAN PROGRAM TOILET TRAINING UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KEMANDIRIAN SISWA AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDERS KELAS II DI SLB C SUKAPURA BANDUNG. S2 thesis, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia.
Abstract
Toilet training is an exercise so that children are able to control urination and defecation by using the bathroom properly. Toilet training can be a challenge for all children, but it can be particularly complex for Autism Spectrum Disorders students who have barriers to communication, social interaction and behaviour, resulting in difficulties in the activity of controlling urination. The existence of a toilet training programme will help a lot for those who have not mastered toilet training skills. This study aims to develop a toilet training learning programme to increase the independence of students with autism Spectrum Disorders. This research uses the Research and Development (R&D) method of the ADDIE model, with implementation using the Single Subject Research (SSR) method of the A-B-A design. The subject in this study was one autism student in class II at SLB C Sukapura Bandung. The development of the toilet training programme is based on the results of the analysis of the profile and learning needs of students then expert validation and analysis of planning, implementation and assessment of learning as well as consideration of relevant theories so that this programme is feasible to use. The results of the applicability test were seen in terms of two aspects of improvement, namely effectiveness and efficiency, an increase in effectiveness related to the objectives of the application of the program which had an impact on improving the ability of autistic students in the form of students being able to convey their desire to BAK by pointing to pictures, opening and wearing pants, squatting in the toilet, doing BAK and cleaning it, and being able to wash their hands. as for the efficiency of the program based on interviews and observations of students showing motivation in learning toilet training. The development of this programme can be a reference for learning because it is more structured, methods and media based on ASD characteristics. This programme can be applied by teachers and parents. Future researchers can use more than one or different subjects so that conclusions can be generalised.
