Abstract

The library is an organization that is oriented toward user satisfaction, so the library needs to innovate according to the needs of its users. Innovation arises when the library administrator know how to run a library. Knowledge must be converted in various ways to be disseminated within the organization. The implementation of the Pustakalana Children's Library as a community-based library encourages librarians to share their knowledge about library management with volunteers/internships as the background of this research. The book collection categorization policy is an innovation formed from the knowledge of PCL librarians. However, currently, there is no Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) regarding the categorization of book collections. This makes it difficult for the management of libraries that involve volunteers/internships. Apart from that, the library's policy regarding librarian working time is divided on certain days according to a mutual agreement, allowing differences in the delivery of knowledge to volunteers/interns. The study aimed to analyze and find out the process of formulating Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for collection categorization at PCL using the SECI Model knowledge conversion cycle to maximize knowledge within the organization that supports effective and efficient service for users. The research method used is a case study with a qualitative approach. The study involved 7 informants consisting of directors, librarians, volunteers, and users who were determined using purposive sampling through a typical case selection strategy. Data collection techniques using interviews, observation, and documentation studies. The data obtained were then analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, drawing conclusions, and verification. The research findings show that all cycles of knowledge conversion using the SECI Model have been carried out so that the formulation of SOPs can be arranged clearly. The other finding is that the internalization cycle has not occurred optimally. This causes the knowledge received by volunteers and users to be less in line with the goals of the library.
