Abstract

Remaja dituntut untuk menyelesaikan berbagai masalah kehidupan. Ketika remaja tidak mampu menyelesaikan masalah, diantaranya dia akan melakukan self-harm. Self-harm sebagai salah satu gejala remaja dengan harga diri rendah. Bimbingan dan Konseling berperan penting untuk meningkatkan harga diri remaja madya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan dinamika harga diri setelah diberikan konseling naratif untuk meningkatkan harga diri remaja madya dengan gejala self-harm. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan ialah mixed-method dengan desain penelitian the embedded design. Data kualitatif diperoleh melalui desain penelitian single-subject research. Data kuantitatif diperoleh dari desain penelitian case study. Instrumen menggunakan konsep Coopersmith yang disebut dengan Coopersmith Self Esteem Inventory (CSEI), mengungkap aspek power, significance, virtue dan competence. Subjek penelitian ialah 3 remaja madya kelas XI di salah satu SMAN Bandung dengan gejala self-harm. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terjadinya perubahan harga diri pada ketiga konseli yang ditunjukkan dengan cukup adanya pengakuan yang diterima dan cukup merasa dirinya berharga. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa konseling naratif dapat meningkatkan harga diri remaja madya dengan gejala self-harm. Namun dari ketiga konseli, konseli F masih melakukan self-harm. Artinya, harga diri yang tinggi pada seseorang bukan salah satu penentu ia tidak akan melakukan self-harm. Maka rekomendasi untuk Guru BK, konseling naratif dapat ditempatkan pada domain pribadi berupa layanan kuratif untuk mengatasi kematangan emosi. Adolescents are required to solve various life problems. When adolescents are unable to solve problems, they will self-harm. Self-harm is one of the symptoms of adolescents with low self-esteem. Guidance and Counseling play an essential role in increasing the self-esteem of middle adolescents. This study aims to explain the dynamics of self-esteem after being given narrative Counseling to increase the self-esteem of middle adolescents with symptoms of self-harm. The research approach used is mixed methods with the embedded design research design. Qualitative data were obtained through a single-subject research design. Quantitative data were obtained from a case study research design. The instrument uses the Coopersmith concept called the Coopersmith Self Esteem Inventory (CSEI), which reveals power, significance, benevolence and competence. The research subjects were three middle-class XI adolescents at one of the Bandung Public High Schools with experiences of self-injury. The study results showed a change in self-esteem in the three counselees, seen by sufficient recognition and self-worth. . So it can be concluded that narrative Counseling can increase the self-esteem of middle adolescents with symptoms of self-harm. However, of the three counselees, counselee F still does self-harm. That is, high self-esteem in a person is not one of the determinants of decisions; he will not harm himself. Recommendations for school counsellors, narrative counseling can be placed in the personal domain in the form of curative services to overcome emotional maturity.
