Abstract
TOEIC is an English language proficiency test for individuals whose native language is not English. TOEIC is used to indicate how people can communicate in English with others in the workplace environment. The aim of the research was to investigate the correlation between the listening section of the TOEIC test and the students’ speaking abilities. The research applied quantitative method. In this research, there were two variables: (1) the students’ score of the listening section of the TOEIC test (2) the students’ score of speaking abilities. The research involved thirty students of the third grade students in one of SMKNs in Bandung as the sample. The data were analyzed by using Pearson Product Moment Correlation, which resulted in the score of correlation coefficient of both variables mentioned above was .813. Furthermore, the score of the sample test was lower than 0.05, which means that the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. In other words, the results of the research indicated that there was strong relationship between the two variables: the students’ listening ability and the students’ speaking abilities.
