    Abstract

    Latar belakang dari penelitian ini yaitu kurangnya kemampuan siswa dalam apresiasi carita pondok. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mendeskripsikan: 1) kemamapuan apresiasi carita pondok siswa sebelum menggunakan media Word Search Puzzle; 2) kemamapuan apresasi carita pondok siswa sesudah menggunakan media Word Search Puzzle; 3) perbédaan yang signifikan antara kemammpuan apresiasi carita pondok
    sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan media Word Search Puzzle. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas VIII-A SMP Negeri 35 Kota Bandung Tahun Ajaran 2022/2023 dengan jumlah siswa yaitu 32 siswa. Pendekatan yang dipakai dalam penelitian ini yaitu pendekatan kuantitatif dengan menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen. Hasil dari penelitian ini yaitu nilai rata-rata sebelum menggunakan media Word Search Puzzle yaitu 60, sedangkan nilai rata-rata sesudah menggunakan media Word Search Puzzle yaitu 80,16. Berdasarkan hasil uji statistik non-parametrik nilai sig. (2-tailed) yaitu 0,000<0,05. Oleh karena itu H1 diterima dan H0 ditolak. Artinya terdapat perbédaan yang signifikan antara kemampuan apresiasi carita poondok sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan média Word Search Puzzle. Bisa disimpulkan
    bahwa media Word Search Puzzle bisa meningkatkan kemampuan apresiasi carita pondok kelas VIII-A SMP Negeri 35 Kota Bandung Tahun Ajaran 2022/2023.

    The background of this research is the lack of students' ability in short story appreciation. The purpose of this research is to describe: 1) the ability to appreciate students' short stories before using the Word Search Puzzle media; 2) the ability to appreciate students' short stories after using the Word Search Puzzle media; 3) there is a significant difference between the
    ability to appreciate short stories before and after using the Word Search Puzzle medium. The source of the data in this study were class VIII-A students of SMP Negeri 35 Bandung City for the 2022/2023 Academic Year with a total of 32 students. The approach used in this study is a quantitative
    approach using quasi-experimental methods. The results of this study are the average value before using the Word Search Puzzle media, which is 60, while the average value after using the Word Search Puzzle media, is 80.16. Based on the results of non-parametric statistical tests, the sig. (2-tailed) that is 0.000<0.05. Therefore H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected. This means that there is a significant difference between the ability to appreciate the story of Poondok before and after using the Word Search Puzzle media. It can be concluded that the Word Search Puzzle media can improve the ability to appreciate the story of Pondok Class VIII-A SMP Negeri 35 Bandung City for the 2022/2023 Academic Year
