Abstract

ABSTRAK PENGARUH PENDEKATAN KONTEKSTUAL BERSTRATEGI REACT TERHADAP PEMAHAMAN KONSEP SISWA SEKOLAH DASAR PADA MATERI PENGUMPULAN DAN PENYAJIAN DATA Rendahnya pemahaman konsep siswa terhadap matematika melatarbelakangi adanya penelitian eksperimen. Penelitian eksperimen yang diuji cobakan adalah penerapan pendekatan kontekstual berstrategi REACT untuk meminimalisir adanya kesulitan pemahaman konsep siswa dalam belajar matematika. Adapun penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh kelas yang menggunakan pendekatan kontekstual berstrategi REACT terhadap pemahaman konsep pada materi pengumpulan dan penyajian data yang diterapkan di kelas V SD. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuasi eksperimen nonequivalent control group design. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah instrumen tes dan nontes. Instrumen tes yang digunakan berupa soal pretest-posttest yang telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitas sebelumnya. Instrumen nontes berupa observasi, wawancara, dan catatan lapangan digunakan sebagai data pendukung penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pendekatan kontekstual berstrategi REACT memberikan pengaruh positif terhadap pemahaman konsep siswa. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan rata-rata pretest sebesar 45,68 dan posttest 77,84 sehingga menunjukkan adanya pengaruh pada pemahaman konsep siswa. Begitupun hasil n-gain menunjukkan hasil sebesar 0,6 dengan kategori sedang dan n-gain persen sebesar 63% yang terbilang cukup efektif untuk diterapkan di dalam kelas. Kemudian, terdapat perbedaan pengaruh antara pendekatan kontekstual berstrategi REACT dan pendekatan konvensional dilihat dari hasil rata-rata tes kemampuan akhir 77,84 dan 65,55. Dapat dikatakan bahwa setelah penelitian dilakukan, pendekatan kontekstual berstrategi REACT memberikan pengaruh yang lebih baik daripada pendekatan konvensional terhadap pemahaman konsep siswa. Oleh karena itu, ditarik simpulan jika pendekatan konstekstual berstrategi REACT dapat direkomendasikan untuk diterapkan dalam proses pembelajaran, khususnya pembelajaran matematika di sekolah dasar. The experimental research being tested was the application of a contextual approach with the REACT strategy to minimize students' conceptual difficulties in learning mathematics. The research aims to determine the effect of a class using a contextual approach with the REACT strategy on understanding concepts in the material for collecting and presenting data applied in class V of SD. The research method used was a quasi-experimental nonequivalent control group design. The instruments used in this research are test and non-test instruments. The test instrument used is in the form of pretest-posttest questions that have been tested for validity and reliability beforehand. Non-test instruments in the form of observations, interviews, and field notes are used as research supporting data. The results showed that the contextual approach with the REACT strategy had a positive influence on students' understanding of concepts. This is evidenced by an average pretest of 45.68 and a posttest of 77.84, indicating an influence on students' understanding of concepts. Likewise the n-gain results show a result of 0.6 in the medium category and a percent n-gain of 63% which is quite effective to apply in class. Then, there is a difference in effect between the contextual approach with the REACT strategy and the conventional approach seen from the average results of the final ability test of 77.84 and 65.55. It can be said that after the research was carried out, the contextual approach with the REACT strategy had a better effect than the conventional approach on students' understanding of concepts. Therefore, it is concluded that the contextual approach with the REACT strategy can be recommended to be applied in the learning process, especially learning mathematics in elementary schools.
